When in Birmingham, this is a must eat place, but be prepared. It’s crowded, unfriendly, dirty and downright irritating to eat here. That being said, we did enjoy our lunchtime stop. They recommended the pulled pork and greens… but I just can’t handle greens. So I went with the Dude burger… pretty impressive. The two boys had Saw burgers and the girls had shrimp and grits. Everything tasted great… not up to the hype… but good. I’ll still recommend it, but if the line is out the door… I’d pass.
Saw’s is a tiny little place in Avondale. While the food is very good, the space and the staff take a lot away from your experience. I have the sweet tea fried chicken sandwich with onion rings and it is so good. However, when you come in, you’re either hit on or treated like you’re a bother. The wait time can take a while too!
I recommend this to my friends when using the BHM airport and coming through to Tuscaloosa. Get the Sweet Tea Chicken Sandwich with the fried green tomatoes. My wife prefers the haystack onion fries.
Best by far for birmingham! My last night here and had to have the pork and greens. Is the neighborhood a little sketch… yes… is the building a little sketch… yes… is the food amazing…absolutely yes!
This place was supposed to be a top 10 visit in Birmingham and some of the best BBQ in Alabama… yeah right! Waited 30 minutes to order… only outside seating… and mediocore food! Dry and tasteless pork… had to cover it in sauce which wasn’t that good… AWFUL cheese grits! This place is riding on hype, don’t believe it…
One of the best places to eat in Birmingham!If they have food left past eight you’re in luck!Most of the seating is outside.My recommendation is the chicken wings.
Stood in line for over half an hour to order but line NEVER moved, no orders placed, no orders filled, and employees just standing around behind the counter talking to each other. What good is supposed good food if no one ever gets it? Don’t plan on going back.
