Im pretty good at grilling and smoking meats. You dont want to know how much i spent on my grill. I have made my own ribs several different ways and none of them ever came close to being as good as ajs. Im always dissapointed when i order ribs at a nice dinner so i dont do that anymore. I would rather just go get ajs then spending hours of my own time trying to make my own.

Yummm!!!. We’re new to Anchorage and spotted the drive-thru location on Lake Otis Pkwy. I was born and raised in the south (FL) and know good BBQ when I smell it. This is an outstranding BBQ stand. My wife and I talked to the nicest gentleman there (Charles). We had the spare ribs and beef brisket two-meat combo. Ribs were moist and meat almost fell off the bones, as it’s supposed to. Brisket had wonderful flavor. It was a little dry but it just gave us the opportunity to slather it with that award-winning sauce. We also had the beans. They were disappointing as you normally expect custom beans at a BBQ joint. These were straight out of the can vegetarian beans. A little dark brown sugar, molasses, maple syrup, and chopped pork would go a long way to improving the beans. No matter, it’s still excellent BBQ and the portion was impressive for around here. If you want good southern BBQ, don’t walk, Run to A.J.’s!!!

When you want BBQ. This is a great place to go. The brisket is very good and the portions are just right for the price. You will not be dissapointed if you are on the go and have a craving for good BBQ. It is also great if you dont feel like cooking find a location and get what you want. I got the combo baby backs with brisket, beans and slaw. Good food, it also came with a roll.

Me and my family loved as ribs, but recently it hasn’t been the same. the meat its tough and the sauce.is watery and so is the beans. its just not good anymore. we’ve come here to their new location and its been terrible. unless it improves we aren’t coming back

Found their new location. Tonight was the first night that I’ve eaten at AJ’s since they moved away from Dimond. They are now on the southwest corner of Old Seward and 86th. I had the brisket and hotlinks, potato salad, and cole slaw. It still doesn’t hold a candle to Texas BBQ, but it’s pretty good for Alaska.

In a galaxy far far away my wife and I ate there when it was besides Freddy’s and it was awesome as advertised. We haven’t been able to catch it at any of the other addresses including this current one just south of Klatt on old Seward (3/12/12). Went there found an old closed trailer with the sign taken down off the plywood above the door. IF ANYONE finds their latest or possibly the next two location let all of us know so we can get great food again

The most amazing barbecue in Anchorage. Their pulled pork sandwiches with coleslaw are the absolute best!
