No thanks!. Copied from my yelp account from 9/9/2014 I recently visited this restaurant with a large party. Our choices were manicotti, lasagna, halibut or their steak. I got the steak and my friend ordered the halibut and we shared. The halibut was bland and very dry. My steak was ordered medium rare but it was more medium and was not seasoned well. I’m sure it was because there were so many of us along with a few children. The waitress was very overwhelmed but was trying to keep it together. The salad wasn’t bad. Our steak and halibut came with a gigantic broccoli head and some asparagus. It wasn’t horrible but I’m a bit hesitant to go there again.
The Pizza is decent, the rest is over priced.. Having lived 12 years in the neighborhood, I never had a bad Pizza. That being said, I don’t dine in very often. dining room service can be slow if crowded. Pasta dishes are normally good, but expensive, 19-20 dollars for pasta?. Steak was ok, but it’s hard cook to medium rare with it as thin as it is. I question their true weights. They used to have a nice rack of lamb but no longer offer it. Salads that come before dinner are pretty small. Priced liked the nicer places downtown Anchorage, they just lack the polish and consistent quality in every aspect of the meal.
WAY overpriced Cheap frozen reheated crap. Living in the area leaves little choices for take out. in 4 years and countless chances we’ve given BV, they’ve epically failed EVERY time. The food is NOT fresh or prepared from scratch by a chef – its either frozen, purchased at Costco or comes out of a can.Their only redeeming quality is the pizza.. and even that’s a crapshoot. Save your money & dine elsewhere. where a REAL chef runs the kitchen, the price reflects the QUALITY of food and the service is actual service. All of which BV lacks. BV charges fine dining prices for reheated bulk preprepared foods you can get at a bus stop. The only reason they keep the doors open is because the people here have no other choices.
These people don’t care about long term customers. After they delivered the wrong order to me they told me to pick out the stuff I am not allergic to and just eat that instead of sending me what I ordered. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!???
Excellent place. I started going to Bella Vista in 1983 up till 2006 when I moved out of state and I really miss the place Bobby is from Greece and knows how to cook not only Italian food but also one of the best steaks that you will ever eat and his pizza’s are the best around not like the imitation stuff you get in Anchorage and I have been to most all of them and the only one that ever came close was pizza nova in the 20 +years that I have gone to Bella Vista the food was always great and consistent unlike many places in Alaska when I come visit it will be one of my first stops for dinner and I am glad to hear you haven’t retired yet Bobby 🙂
Delicous. I am personally shocked at the bad reviews. This is a regular place for us. The service has always been excellent. The wait staff go out of their way to get me a table near the fire since I am always cold. Pizza, sandwiches are always great. The best thing on the menu is the pasta with clam sauce. Heaven on a plate!
Not fit for your dog. My husband surprised me with dinner at the BellaVista on our way home from Fairbanks on Valentine’s day.Boy was he surprised ~ This place is terrible. The wait staff is rude, lazy and arrogant. When we asked for water for the table we were told we didn’t need water if we were going to order cocktails. Took 20 minutes to get a menu, another 20 minutes to get our wine (overpriced bottle) and another 10 minutes to get the waitresses attention that we were ready to order.We finished our bottle of wine and bread sticks before our meal every appeared on the table. By the time it did come my husband was very upset. When he called for the manager to come over my husband was told the manager was too busy to speak with him. Our food was cold and it looked like it had just been thrown on the plate and left to sit for half hour. BAD BAD BADTHIS PLACE SUCKS.
