This is one of the best Chinese restaurants I’ve been to in Anchorage and I’ve been to several. Food was fast fast fast but oh so good! I brought my kids thinking they were going to turn their nose up. Lo and behold, they cleaned their plates! Definitely worth a repeat.
The food is always decent but waiting an hour and a half for a small order that arrives cold is not worth the price you pay. I highly recommend picking up your food if you order from this place. You’ll enjoy your meal a lot quicker if you do.
Delivers to JBER! Ordered Kung Pao chicken, crispy duck and sesame chicken, dumplings and crispy wontons. The food was delicious. Courteous phone service and prompt delivery within time given. We will definitely order from here again and recommend to friends.
Birthday Party Gone Awry. For my thirtieth birthday, my family scheduled a dinner at China Town Restaurant. I have never had a Peking duck dinner and had always imagined it would be a perfect way to celebrate a momentous birthday with my family and friends. Two days before, we called and confirmed our reservation for Saturday and grew even more excited for the upcoming dinner.My birthday arrived (along with family and friends from around South Central Alaska and as far away as Illinois) and we were all very excited as we made our way to China Town for our reservation. As we walked in, the staff stood up from what appeared to be their dinner, and directed us to sit wherever wed like. A little bit confused, we referenced our reservation and that we had pre-ordered the Peking duck meal for our fairly large party. The manager and/or owner replied matter-of-factly, Thats on Monday. We explained that it was actually this evening, and that we had even called to ensure they would be ready for us two days prior. This time the reply was, You can all order something from the regular menu. Im still not certain whether they simply didn’t want to prepare it and thought wed shrug it off or actually made a mistake. Maybe the Chinese calendar has my birthday on the 19th…..They all looked on longingly as we filled the entire group out the door. Saturday night at 7:00 pm is not the time to get a table for a large dinner in Anchorage, but after much calling around, local staple, Panchos Villa (a favorite of mine) was able to accommodate us and we all had a wonderful time with perfect service. I have heard of China Town catering weddings and events, but I couldn’t possibly recommend this restaurant for any planned event. Moral? The food may be authentic (Ill never know), but China Town received a zero before we even sat down.
Customer. My family has been to the restaurant very frequently during the past 18 years and we love authentic Chinese food. We just learned that the restaurant has a new owner now who has been involved in the business for many years. The new owner has told us recently that they are making a lot of improvements to the business, including replacing old furniture, implementing a new business model that will focus on quality control and enhancing efficiency, and developing new dishes to meet customer demands.I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Really good Chinese food.. Of the 4-5 Chinese places in town that I have tried so far, this is the best Chinese food I have found so far. I had the buffet today and it was really good. There were probably about 7-8 main dishes, two soups, egg rolls, pot stickers and fried rice. All of the food I tried was really good. The buffet had, Kung Pao chicken, Mongolian Beef, Orange Chicken, fried rice, General Tso’s chicken, egg drop and hot and sour soup, fried noodles, and a few other items. The place is very plain inside but it was getting busy by 11:30am. The price for the buffet was only $9.50.
This restaurant has the best crispy duck. The delivery can take a while but they always let you know. The food is really good. The chicken wings are great also. I am overall pleased with their food.
