Ordered delivery. For 3 ala carte tacos and a chimichanga it was 43 bucks. They didn’t bring the right salsa and the food was soggy and slow. Not a good experience.
Don Jose’s delivers Mexican food for a price point below it’s quality. They offer chips and a hot/mild salsa upon arrival, something I appreciate, but I really wish they had queso as well. The servers work very hard to deliver a fine dining environment, complete with arm behind the back and you-may-have-a-seat-here-sir gestures. While I find such things to be a bit much for my taste, I enjoy knowing the server is trying to deliver the best quality service possible. However, the service was remarkably slow from the drink order to food delivery. Something I found rather confusing as we came at a time when there were not many guests present. The restaurant itself is darkly lit, with a healthy dosage of mosaic tile and Mexican-themed decorations, creating a formal feeling without losing it’s ethnic niche. The three dollar signs on the restaurant’s page here is a bit misleading as it’s food is mostly just over the 10$ price range, putting it in the same ball-park as just about anything else in Anchorage. The drinks were rather expensive though. Even though our meals were about 13$ each, our check came out to 61$ after drinks. The food was definitely some of the better more traditional Mexican fare I’ve had in Anchorage, and I did not leave unsatisfied.
Very delicious. My Coworkers and I eat here at least 2-3 times a week, I have always been please with their service and the quality of their food.5/5 its the bomb…the bomb dot com.
NOT!. Went once with family to try the Sunday buffet. The place was dark and dirty. No one noticed the 5 of us for several minutes and we finally wandered further in. There were a half dozen tables occupied but no staff in sight. After a couple of minutes of waiting someone finally came from the back and cleaned a table for us to sit. The buffet food was limited; about 8 things like a tub of refried beans, tub of dirty rice, bland enchiladas and tamales… all of it was very generic out of the can type stuff that was pretty tasteless.
Great queso and fajita supreme!!!
Had lunch with my uncle, enjoyed great service, was suprised at the amount vegetarian options! Will be back!
Great food, service & atmosphere. I love the spinach enchiladas and bean burritos a la carte, and the margaritas, of course.
