Too much credit. I was disappointed in this place for several reasons. First off, the service was poor. Getting our drinks refilled or simply ordering our meal took much longer than necessary as the waitress came over a total of three times during the meal. Second; When we recieved to food, the flavor was bland and plating was unoriginal. Third, the waitress hurried us towards the end as well as ignored us for a water refill after we paid. Finally, for the price of the food and hype surrounding it, I expected much better service, food, and atmosphere from this restaurant.

My wife and I walked in on this Thursday for dinner and thoroughly enjoyed our time. We had crusted cod and pork lion chop both of which were excellent. Carrot cake for dessert. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. Wait staff was excellent with just the right amount of attention. Pricy but good.

Nice atmosphere and great food. It is always a treat going there and is the only restaurant that I will have fresh fish prepared. Best restaurant in town just wish they had a full bar.

I really really…. …like this place. Professional staff (really long timers there), clean and fun atmosphere, and last but not least…great food. I don’t go to Jens’ often because I can’t afford it, but when I do, I’ve always had a great experience. I’m comfortable. There is an ease about the place that makes you feel like you’re slipping on a favorite pair of loafers. To me, that comes from a very well seasoned staff. Thanks Jens’ for the great food and superb customer service.

Was SO excited when hubby said we had reservations for Jens’ on Valentine’s Day! This has been on our must-try list for awhile–the rave reviews had us salivating. I cannot complain about the service AT ALL. Very attentive without being intrusive… Great timing… Knowledgeable.Unfortunately, for the amount we paid for everything, I expected the food to be OUTSTANDING. It was A-OK. Not great, no bad. The bread was cold–stacked in baskets on a buffet we could see from our table. It tasted okay, but being pre-cut and on the cool side left a bit to be desired. Hubby ordered the garden salad and I had the caesar. Both were alright. The parmesan cheese overpowered the dressing on mine (kind of a bummer since I’m a fan of homemade dressing). I had the scallops with mushrooms and sauce, hubby had the pork chop. The scallops were cooked perfectly, but only came with a tiny bit of mushroom on top, a scant portion of sauce, and a 1/2 cup of white rice. Yes-white rice. For $32 I expect MORE than white rice–for Pete’s sake gimme some risotto or something!! The hubby’s porkchop and grits was a much better value. The chop was cooked perfectly and the grits were good. Each entree came with a few tiny spears of asparagus and 1/8 of a cooked yam.Atmosphere? Well, it was okay. Dated? Kind of. Romantic? Not really.Okay, as I write, I’m really beginning to believe I’m a food snob. But really, why is it so hard for restaurants in Anchorage to earn the trifecta of dining??? There are a couple of places that have it, but, I’m so sad to say that Jens’ is not one of them. For a $120 meal, it’s not at the top of our list anymore…

Delicious Oysters!. Great service and excellent food! I would recommend it for a nice dinner, lunch was a little disappointing.
