This place has the best Italian beef sandwich in Alaska!! Having done some growing up in Chicago and surrounding Midwest, Chicago Italian beef sandwiches are a staple. Everyone around there makes one and they all have their own slant. Johnny’s is no different. Their beef is spicy and tender, the rolls have justthe right squishy factor and, best of all, they have an option to dunk the entire sandwich in au jus. And, as any real Italian beef connoisseur knows, dripping and messyis the only way to order an Italian beef!!The only other dish I’ve tried here was the Chicago hot dog which is why I only gave this place 4.5 stars. If they used a thicker hot dog like back home they’d have earned that last half star. Best of all, the service here is spectacular with the new owner going above and beyond to make your meal special. It’s also conveniently located and sparkling clean every single time I stop by. One of my top workday lunch destinations.
