Excellent service and food, never had a bad meal here and go for all of our special occasions! We love their classes too, always an awesome time.
Exceptional food and service. Marx Bros Cafe is one of the best restaurants I’ve been to in town. The service was exceptional: my fiance and I were greeted warmly at the door, our servers were timely, friendly, and VERY knowledgeable about the wine offerings, and one of the owners took the time to come by and see how our dinner experience was. We could tell that everyone there was committed to service and quality. On to the food… We had the seafood mousse for an appetizer (which was rich and delicious), I had Kodiak scallops in a saffron lobster sauce, and my fiance had the grilled salmon with purple potatoes. Both entrees were cooked and presented beautifully. Finally, we had chocolate mousse for dessert- another amazing menu item. I highly recommend Marx Bros. to anyone who has an appreciation for good food and exceptional service.
VERY Disappointed!. First off, the service was very good! The servers were very knowledgable of the wine list and menu, however they do not serve anything but wine or beer, and their beer menu was sub-par at best. It was extremely hot, and there was a party of about 15-20, which was far too many considering the size of the dining area. I would recommend that they DO NOT book parties over 4 (5 tops), for the simple fact that it was extremely loud! We could not talk to each other because the table behind us was 15+ and overpowered the room. The house is not structured to handle so much noise. The worst part of the night was the FOOD. For a $40 plate I would hope that the Filet Migon pot pie would taste better than dog food. I am not trying to be spoiled, but honestly my husband and I both agree that our food collectively was missing one thing in particular….FLAVOR. The food was bland and boring, to the point where neither of us wanted to finish our plate. The menu is exiting and diverse, but doesn’t do the actual dish justice. We felt as if we were tricked into a wonderful meal, just to find out that the entree was very sub-par. The server told us there was a new chef, and sadly enough this experience has swayed us to never return. Service, Bread, and location were great – plating, presentation and flavor were lacking…..
Absolutely charming! Dinner was exceptional. Whether you try something out of the ordinary like the half shell oysters with sorbet (delicious surprise) or the signature cesar salad, you are in for a treat! As far as service is concerned, you will get the five star experience without the pretencious feel. Give this restaurant a try, you will send your taste buds on an adventure!
Finally dined at Marx Brothers, and wish I would have dined here sooner. The staff was attentive and personable. I enjoyed everything I ate – the olives, the bread, their famous Caesar salad, the perfectly cooked lamb chops, and the risotto. They also had a nice wine list. All 5 of us enjoyed our dining experience.
Sorry didnt finish thought…not worth $38 a plate!04 Jul, 2013Overpriced! I was excited when I saw the menu but was dissapointed when i could taste NONE of the flavors described in menu. Small portions, bland, very tight/crowded and loud with fair service. We had macadamia halibut and scallops. Bread was warm and good. Couldnt have a conversation with my husband, def not a romantic destination. The food was just ok not worth $38.
Good but maybe not worth the $36 per plate. The food is decent and nicely presented . Although on one occasion the service was terrible and the flavor of the food was nearly inedible. It was quite a let down. Out of 5 stars I would give it 3.5.
