Not a good value. I figured I’d try it out this evening due to the glowing reviews listed here but was not very impressed. A double cheeseburger, cheese fries, and medium shake set me back $15 and change. The burger was okay, thin but wide-diameter patties cooked well, a bit skimpy on the cheese. The fries were thoroughly underwhelming; thicker crinkle-cut fries, a bit on the soggy side, with a slight dusting of shredded cheese tossed on top. The shake, supposedly chocolate, probably tastes the same no matter the flavor ordered; it was gritty, seemingly made from ice cream that has been in the freezer for far too long. Be prepared to spend 50 cents each on little side cups of bbq or ranch sauce. The food would rate as a 4 of 10 normally, but for this price point, I expect more of an attempt to make the best food possible (overall experience 2 of 10). I came away with the feeling that the place is on the decline. How else could other people have found it as stellar as they have here.

It’s O.K. if you’re starving. I was determined to find a decent place that delivered something better than mediocre burgers and cold fries. I decided on this place mainly because the prices ARE GREAT. We order LOTS of delivery food so I’m becoming hardened by terrible service. MAXs are really nice on the phone, prompt with delivery and again, the prices are low…sadly though, the food isn’t anything to do flips over. Just another burger. Just another batch of deep fried mushrooms. Nothing mouthwatering. Like I said, it’s OK if you’re starving.

After reading the reviews, I was excited for this burger. Mine was pathetic. Two small slices of avocado and two small rings of onion-not ideal. The onion rings were amazing and so were the cheese sticks.

Wow. This place smelled so good walking in, and the food proved to be pretty good. Definitely a greasy burger joint, but they sell other things like really tender teriyaki chicken with rice & green salad. The fries needed a bit more salt, but the homemade ranch to dip is AWESOME!! we will be back!

Best $5 Burger in Town. I was a bit sceptical about trying Max’s but their burgers came recommeded from a chef friend of mine. I was very please to see the prices and when I had to wait for my burger because it was grilled to order I didn’t mind because I knew it was going to be hot. The crisp lettuce, ripe tomatos and rings of onions that were topping my burger were not dripping with grease and very flavorful. I’ve been back several times since then and everything I’ve had has been wonderful. I highly recommed this place for good food on a tight budget. Here you get your $$$’s worth. If you don’t have time to wait call your order in they will have it waiting.

A pleasant surprise. I went to this place a few days ago with my two kids. It has a decent amount of eat in space with about 12 tables. The food was very well priced and it was good too. The menu has chicken, seafood, and other sandwiches as well. I had the mushroom burger which comes with fries and it was only 5.25. In the 5th ave mall its almost ten dollars! There is a kid’s menu as well but I was disappointed that when we ordered the kid’s grilled cheese it came to us without the cheese actually being melted and it was only half a sandwich. I would still come back and considering the how everything is more expensive in Alaska this is now a go to place.

My Opinion. I really like Max’s Beefy Burger, the only problem I have with them, is they don’t carry an online order system, which is fine, but they should atleast put their menu on line, since we never seem to recieve their menu in the menu packages thats sent out ever-so-often of alot of the other restaurants, so please Max’s Beefy take heed to this, and atleast put your menu online, you would probably recieve alot more business from previous customers..Thank You. Cheryl
