Tasty and definitely a place for chocolate lovers but too overpriced for what you get. The decor is very artistic (owner welded most everything) but is extremely uncomfortable. I liked the vegan chocolate options but their main chocolate drink wasn’t vegan because it had milk already mixed into it. The truffles are very very expensive… I won’t pay $3 for a piece of their chocolate again.
Fantastic!. I love this place! The staff that I have encountered have been super friendly and helpful. The chocolate, well, the chocolate is absolutely wonderful. I like the heat in their spicy drinking chocolate – it’s a satisfying level of kick but not enough to make you sweat. My favorite chocolate to date was their vegan Thai lime coconut one. It was so unique and the flavors worked great together. I would never have thought of pairing chocolate with this combo. Yes it’s a bit pricey so not a place I frequent everyday, but once a week it’s great to stop in for a coffee and truffle or a cup of spicy hot chocolate. The atmosphere inside is fun and funky yet relaxing. Well done!
Must have… more rose truffles!. Oh my…. the rose truffles are fantastic. All of the truffles are fantastic, but those are my current love. Well, those and the boy that gave them to me. I had my last one for breakfast today and since I can’t accurately describe all of the flavors I’m forced to go back for just a couple more. Anyone that complains about the prices of these lovely hand crafted gems has probably never tried to make truffles. Chocolate is just like anything else- you get what you pay for.
Intrigued, I went to MDCL for the first time and was magnificently treated by the young woman! She educated me about the store and it’s products and then suggested a cup of drinkable chocolate, which I ordered. Chili and regular together with whipped cream and it was fantastic! A bit pricey, but that’s to be expected of such excellent chocolate. After I had been sitting and reading for a while, the girl came and offered me a glass of water. The whole experience was delightful and unique and I suggest trying one of their diverse truffles. Thanks, Chocolate Lounge!
Mmm chocolate!. Though we didn’t actually sit down at Modern Dwellers, my boyfriend and I had a good sampling of their wares. We ordered a whole variety of the truffles (it was Valentine’s Day, we weren’t too worried about the price). Some were great and some were good, none were bad.The spicy drinking chocolate is nothing special. But then again, I’m not a fan of adding peppers to chocolate ie Mayan style. The servers were lovely, attentive and helpful. The prices, like the other reviews have said, are eyebrow raising. The store has a mix of art, interesting trinkets, and haute chocolate/candy for sale. Worth a visit every so often, but I’m certainly not going to be a regular with those prices.
I’m not impressed with the prices or the size of the truffles, but the flavors are definitely unique.
Tasty, creative truffles. Modern Dwellers has excellent truffles. Each one is unique and amazing. Don’t expect to go here to be filled up…it tends to be pricy.I would pass on their spicy drinking chocolate, although most people seem to like it.
