Everything is fresh and made from scratch–tastes GREAT. LOVE the burgers too. Plus gluten free sweets are fantastic and better for us. These folks are great, their food is great. What a wonderful addition to Spenard.

Oh My Yum.. Seriously so so grateful for this little food truck. It’s right in my neck of the woods, plus the variety of gluten free (and some vegan!) options they have is endless! Bread, cookies, noodles, cupcakes, beer battered! You’re mind will be blown. Plus the owners are just the sweetest, they remembered me the second time I visited and always let me know if somethings not gluten free. I would recommend it to all.

HOORAY! Gluten Free that tastes GOOD!. It is really hard to get good gluten free food in this town. Even restaurants who are known for their excellent and eclectic food don’t make being a gluten free diner easy. That’s why I was so skeptical about Out of the Box when I first realized they specialized in gluten free. I finally tried their food, and am so happy I did. They make all their own food, and the owner is able to break down any and all ingredients, which is important to me, as gluten is not the only thing I have an intolerance to. Everything I have tried there is delicious, the best thing being that I can order a cheeseburger, and even the bun tastes good! I guess my favorite menu item has to be the buffalo burger or the coconut shrimp, but the chicken strips are good, so are the rice balls and the sweet potato fries. I haven’t gotten a chance to try the tacos, because every time I go I get pulled back to the burger, but everything else on the menu is delicious. I would highly recommend his place to those who have special food needs AND to those who just want to eat delicious, healthy food.
Located on Spenard, just a little ways passed Minnesota, is a gravel parking lot with a Box on it the size of a concession stand at the state fair. It is not a food truck but something between a concession stand and a drive up coffee hut. Welcome to Out of the Box. They may be cooking and serving you out of a box but their food is definitely not something coming from a box. They have a small menu with occasional specials. We drove up and ordered from the one page menu and both the staff were very nice and helpful. We had the Tacos, Angus Burger and fries with the Deep Fried Rice Balls as an appetizer. In addition to food, they had a large selection of cold drinks and they made an effort to provide several options of sodas that did not have High Fructose Corn Syrup, (Mexican Coke, Pepsi and Mountain Dew Throwback) which I really appreciated. That attention to detail carries through to their other ingredients and how they prepare their food. They use fresh, local and organic ingredients whenever possible and they are gluten free unless you order a regular bun for your burger. Speaking of burgers, my burger was cooked perfectly. The Rice Balls were good and the fries were very good! I really enjoyed the Tacos, so far they are my favorite dish there. On my next trip I will try the Buffalo Burger, no we are not talking about a burger with hot-wing sauce and blue cheese. We are talking about a burger made from Midwest raised Buffalo! I have posted a picture of their menu, check it out, and go check them out as well. I am happy I did and I think you will be too. The only down side to Out of the Box is their hours. There are just two of them working the business so they are only open from 11-4 pm weekdays. That might make it kind of hard for some of you to go, but if you take your lunch hour and give them a try you will not be disappointed. You can call ahead at 907-632-4279 and place your order so you wont have to wait for them to cook it if you are pressed for time. Their quality, especially for the price, makes Out of the Box a great lunch option for those on the go in my opinion.
