Great alternative to the usual greasy fast food in Anchorage. My daughters have been eating at Pita Pits for years with their university volleyball team because it provides a good filling meal, with enough choices to please everyone, and an excellent filling-to-pita ratio. So yesterday they invited me to lunch – that was a first!! – and brought me to Pita Pit. Start with choice of white or wheat pita – and this is the real pita with a pocket, not the thick slabs they call pita that barely wrap the fillings, which then fall out as you are trying to eat. Then you choose your main filling from a good variety, and proceed to the fresh veggies, sauces, pickled items and cheeses etc. You can have some veg cooked on the grill along with your main filling and still have raw ones. I filled my pita pocket with chicken souvlaki/gyros, cooked spinach, mushrooms and tomatoes, and had more raw spinach and tomatoes, some lettuce and feta cheese to go in as well, and the pita was first spread with tzatziki, hummus and quacamole. This made a good size, very tasty parcel, which kept me going all afternoon. And the guy and girl working behind the counter couldn’t have been more helpful, making sure as a first-timer that I was aware of all my options. I highly recommend! As I didn’t pay and didn’t see any prices, I cannot comment on value for money but assume it is good

The food is very good. I would compare it to a pita version of qdoba. There is a large selection of pitas as well as toppings. Ive been mostly happy with the food there. The downside to this place is the terrible customer service. When waiting to get my pita made, The employees were chatting with some friends and holding up the entire line. When they were taking the meat from the grill and placing it in the pita, half of it fell on the floor, in which the employee shrugged as if nothing happened. When asked if they could make more, just said they couldnt do so. This experience has pit me off of a food place i did enjoy. Not just this visit, but many visits i tend to get subpar service from kids. Id recommend the food if you dont mind the terrible service.
Great food, Inattentive service. I’ve been to the midtown Pita Pit several times, and the food is always wonderful. My favorite is the Hummus, but sometimes you have to remind them to make it thick, or they will spread it on there so thin you can barely taste it. I love the fresh food and the ability to create different combinations.On the most recent visit, there was poor service all the way around. The cashier was busy talking to the two ladies in front of me and it took 2-3X as long to get to the cashier as usual. Then the people making the food were so busy staring out the window and trying to interact with the same two ladies, that they had to repeat their questions that I had already answered several times because they were focused elsewhere. When I turned to fill my drink, there was an employee emptying the trash and talking with the same two ladies. I had to wait for them to move out of the way, and then the employee was giving me dirty looks for stepping in to get my drink.Very poor service from a place that has great food!
On vacation. Great service and food.
Annoyed. My husband and I really enjoy pita pit food but today left annoyed and ready to not return again to the Midtown Pita Pit. Yes it was relatively busy but not to account for the bad treatment we received. I can get over the fact that it took the boy on the line telling the griller to make my husband’s gyro and phili 3 times, and that he put lettuce in my black bean pita after i said sprouts twice (oh and put the now hummus covered lettuce back into the lettuce bin). However, when I went to get a lid for my regular size drink there were none – it took us literally 15 minutes and asking 3 different people 6 times all together to get a lid. We were ignored on most accounts and it wasn’t until my husband shouted out at two boys on the line that he has been asking for a drink lid for 15 minutes that one was finally procured with no apology – in fact, the guy who got the lid acted annoyed that we needed one with our to-go meals! I hate that this happened, as I like pita pit’s food, but I will not be going again any time soon.
