Ronnie 2 has good sushi and an enjoyable atmosphere well suited to large parties. However, the real enjoyment happens when you order in. They give you a free edamame appetizer, free miso soup, free salad, free seaweed salad, and a complimentary sweet potato cake for desert. The sushi is good, but they seem to try a bit too hard to be unique and thus some of the options are not so enjoyable. One of the best sushi places in Anchorage.
In a nutshell…. Great. Fresh, and voluminous. Service leaves quite a bit to be desired. Fairly priced. Cozy atmosphere. Awesome music. — Kristi and Margaret–
Tony H.. Both Ronnie’s are the best I’ve ever had ! Very nice staff excellent food and great portions.
Best sushi in Alaska. The service at the tables has mixed reviews but I can say it is the best sushi at the bar of anywhere I’ve been. Much cheaper than others in town and far better quality. Chef is on tarhet with flavors and very fresh ingredients. They know their fish. The sushi chef here even surpasses the other location. I always eat too much when I go here it is soooo good.
Too Much Food…. Talk about portion inflation. Honestly, I don’t Want 4 apps AND a cup of soup before I’ve even ordered. RS2 is so over the top. And what a waste. My daughter and I didn’t touch 3 out of the 4 predinner apps or finish our soups-not to mention the amount of dishes that surrounded us. There was no place to move. Our sushi rolls were loaded also. And it wasn’t appetizing looking. It was just a massive amount of food. I like elegant, small, bite sized, well presented sushi. After dinner they brought us a small dessert. Again, no thank you. RS2, maybe you could ask people if they would enjoy your ‘freebies’. Actually, a lot of us don’t want them. We’re just there to order a nice small portion of yummy sushi. At least that’s what sushi used to be. This overfeeding the public really isn’t necessary.
Great food, so-so service. Recently went to Ronnie 2 with my girlfriend and sat in the sake bar. Nice atmosphere, cool decor. The lone bartender up there (who was dressed in what appeared to be pajamas) gave very mediocre service. The beers tasted off, like they hadn’t cleaned their tap lines in forever. But the food was delicious. I had the gyoza and yakitori while my girlfriend had the rainbow roll, and it was all fantastic. I suggest hiring a better bartender and cleaning your tap lines. A bigger beer selection would be nice too.
Garbage. Ronnies is a fantastic venue but ronnie 2 is absolutely awful. They had like one server to 20 people, thus rendering the service extremely slow. The miso soup (which was lukewarm) and salad tasted and smelled like cleaning solution. The rice on the sushi rolls were hard and dry. She never even came back to see how we were and it was understandable due to the fact that they seemed really understaffed. She didn’t even manage to refill our water once. Stick with the original Ronnies and never come here.
