Eight years later, I still remember how great this was!. Just came across a business card I had picked up while on vacation in 2006. Believe it or not, this was one of the best meals I had while in Alaska and my husband and I still tell people about it to this day. I hope that the business is thriving. To those who haven’t had a chance to try out Salmon Express, you really must!!

Moved, two other locations during the summer. Salmon Express is not an eat-in restaurant. It is a food stand. The have a regular presence at the Downtown Anchorage Market and Festival at 3rd Ave. and E St. (summer weekends) and at the Alaska State Fair in Palmer in the last weeks of August. THERE IS NO SALMON EXPRESS AT THE LOCATION SHOWN ON THE MAP!They make a few different things but the main draw is the Salmon Quesadillas. Quintessentially and quirkily Alaskan, it is a heavenly mix of chopped-up cooked salmon with spices and cheese melted together in a large flour tortilla panini-style and cut into four easily-handled pieces with an ulu knife. Even though I live here, I bike by the Downtown Market just to munch on some of these and tourist watch. Summer in Alaska is never complete without salmon quesadillas.
