What’s happened to Shines???. Years ago, when we moved to Eagle River, Shines was my favorite place to eat. The last 4 times we went, it’s been absolutely awful :o(((. In fact, there was a metal wire in my son’s kid’s dinner (thank goodness he didn’t eat it). Everything tastes different and after trying 1 more time last night, we will not be going back :o(((. Bye Shines – you use to be good :o(((.
The appetizer was probably the only good thing that we had. We had shrimp tempura as an appetizer and that was good. I ordered hibachi chicken and I felt like I was eating chicken fajitas at Chili’s, not good at all. My husband ordered the rainbow roll and he gots like four tiny rolls. From now on I’d rather drive all the way to Anchorage to Samurai Sushi
HORRIBLE. They got new owners and ever since it has been horrible. I ordered for delivery one night and it took them almost 2 hours, after calling me 4 times to verify things on my order. I get my food and it is completely wrong. We called them to get our money back for the stuff we didn’t get and they again called us 2 times to verify the order. After that and waiting almost a week to get my $8 back I swore I would never go back. I ate in the restaurant a couple months later and had a good experience so tonight I thought I’d try it again. Order my food and they called me 15 minutes later to verify my order…again. They then called me 3 different times because my address was wrong, one of the numbers was wrong on my credit card and then to verify my order AGAIN. I finally got my food…again, almost 2 hours after they order and the lady wanted my credit card to pay for it. She said it didn’t run at the restaurant so she wanted me to write my CC number on the back of a receipt…. UM NO. I look at my order after she left and they got my order wrong AGAIN. So then she called me as she left and said the restaurant would call me to get my CC information… AGAIN!!! They called and I gave them my information. I also told them my order was wrong and that I don’t want to pay for my roll that I didn’t order (I ordered a hand roll which is much cheaper). She said she already ran my card and that she would give me store credit. NO… I am never going back to this place ever again. And now the delivery driver has to drive all the way back to my house to have me sign the receipt….. So angry. I’ve never hated talking on the phone so much in my life.
I like Shines but as of last night I’d rather drive to anchorage to samurai sushi. I experienced the worst service ever. It was busy for a Saturday night but it was ridiculous. No one came up to take our order, I had to ask three times about my drink, She put our stuff on someone else’s tab, our last sushi roll showed up 20 minutes after the first.. Sorry i hate bad service
Sooo good! My favorite is chicken fried rice and the Alaska roll. Hands down the best fried rice! I crave Shines all the time, I got spoiled from living in eagle river for a while! Too bad they aren’t in anchorage too!

Worst take out ever. I picked up an order last night on the way home. Kids Chicken Teriyaki, Rainbow Roll, and a tuna sashimi. Cold fries, dry chicken, and poor flavor. The roll had to be dismantled because I was not comfortable eating the fish on it, and I was certainly not going to eat the sashimi. It looked to be the left overs from last week.Terrible experience altogether, I only go there because my daughter like the chicken meal. Not anymore.$40 wasted!
