Great place, fantastic atmosphere and superb food. Some dinner portion sizes can be dainty, but the quality is always there. Best place for lunch period, no other restaurant compares.
Overpriced. I got a funny feeling while looking at the entree prices on the menu. That feeling told me the food was overpriced so we ordered a bacon cheeseburger and the shrimp pasta dish off the bistro menu. My spouse was not impressed with the pasta and while the burger was good it did not live up to its reputation. The flourless chocolate cake deserts were delicious.The couple we dined with ordered lamb and pork dishes from the dinner menu and what we saw only confirmed my feeling about the entree prices.The biggest problem was not the food it was our waiter – he was a jackass.

A wonderful dinner with great service. The appetizers were inventive and delicious. The main courses were varied with something for everyone. The salmon was cooked perfectly. Our waitress was knowledgeable and attentive.
What’s left to be said? This place rocks! Great service and excellent food. The only complaint I had was a few beards were left on my muscles, but they were really good anyway. We’ll be back.
One of my top picks for Anchorage. Wow- I went here last week with my boyfriend after some friends recommended it, and it was definitely a pleasant surprise. I only wish we had come here sooner. Southside Bistro is one of my favorite restaurants in Anchorage now! The ambiance is great, the decor is pleasant, the service is good, and the food is delicious. My boyfriend and I both had the Kodiak scallops and shrimp (which came in a perfectly balanced champagne cream sauce). They were cooked beautifully, and the rice and veggie sides were delicious as well. Good job Southside! You do great things for the food scene in Anchorage.
I wish they opened earlier!. Great, chef prepared, gourmet creations. The food is always fresh, the produce amazing, and beautifully presented. Every plate is a work of art. A little pricey, but well worth it for a special occasion. Make reservations if you want to be sure to get a seat. It’s a must visit for anyone who appreciates fine cuisine. Not very large, so seating is limited.
