Not what it once was. Quality is on the slide. Ordered up the quinoa salad today. Have ordered it at least a dozen times over the last couple years. Half the usual ingredients and one bite in its occurring to me there is zero quinoa. Also, zero communication between servers, kitchen, expediters. and management. Asked four times to let me pay my bill and go. Had to wait about 5 minutes while manager got around to come talk to me with bill in hand. Did not ask for manager. Did not ask the salad be taken off the bill. When a restaurant attempts to placate me as a customer when I dont ask my assumption is they have no intent to take me or my comments seriously. Whats to discuss? The kitchen cant figure out how to put quinoa on a quinoa salad, the expediters dont check the dish or challenge the kitchen on quality, servers wont let you just pay the bill and go, and the manager acts like the customer is the problem. The Roadhouse used to be the best restaurant in the group. Is it going down the same path as Sacks???
We’ve been to Spenard Roadhouse several times but stopped going as there really isn’t much to be excited about. The food they offer is a little bit more imaginative than standard bar fare but not much. Each time we have walked out disappointed with paying so much and getting so little quality.The food was simply unimaginative. Nothing crazy bad just nothing crazy exciting either. Just a place to get decent food. Definitely NOTa place to take out-of-towners looking for an Alaskan food experience. An example if their fish-n-chips. It states it is rockfish but it didn’t taste like any rockfish I’ve ever had. If I had to guess it was cod. 3 tiny chunks of fish on top of the most plain and lifeless fries you’ve ever had. Only the tarter sauce was worth raving about – thick and rich with lots of flavor. Alas, not enough to make the fish worth ordering.
