Don’t be fooled by these reviews people, this is the worst cafe in town. These reviews are obviously made up. I went to culinary school in Seward and I know that you don’t bake a flour tortilla and call it a taco. And for some reason they served it with slice tomatoes not diced, dry,old cod
First time coming here, really impressed. The menu isn’t bogged down with a ton of choices, a seemingly simple sandwich shop with large sandwiches including high quality ingredients. Salads with house made dressings and a Thai chicken wrap with a unique medley of ingredients. I’m sad they’re only open for lunch!
6 stars!!!!!. I also have driven by numerous times but this time decided to try them out. My boyfriend and I were both on our lunch hours so we decided to call ahead in hopes that the meal would be ready for us to eat when we got there. It was a snowy day, we were the only ones there, wasnt sure what to think of that; no patrons.. Usually a bad sign. But to our delight they delivered our food to us before we had our coats off. I ordered soup; spinach and mushroom, spinach ribbons, sliced mushrooms in a light cream broth and moose pass salad, the greens were very fresh, cherry tomatoes were unbelievably tasty for Alaska, and the dressing had lots of garlic.. Just the way I like it! Very fresh! And Veggie juice; blended with the perfect combination of veggies. All was fresh and superb! My boyfriend ordered the piper club; the bread was wonderful, cut thick and sooo soft! The turkey was fresh turkey (not the deli stuff) and the bacon was nice and crispy, it was also very fresh and a pink flamingo smoothie was blended perfectly. The restraunt was decorated in an Avant garb way, very cute! We ended up taking a lot of our food to go, the amount of food you get is enormous. Even though we both were VERY stuffed I could not pass on trying some of their desserts. We got a piece of raspberry chocolate cake (huge piece) to go. I am happy to say that I had the left over for dinner, just as good the second time around. As you can tell by my review we were VERY pleased with our meal, service and the energy within the restraunt. We could tell that the food was prepared with love and passion. We will definitely return, and will recommend the Sweet Basil Cafe to all. ENJOY!!
Great lunch!. Soups are terrific. Half sandwiches are huge! Desserts are exceptional. Ingredients always seem very fresh. Pastas are tasty. We love this place.
A lovely lunch spot. I enjoyed my meal at the Sweet Basil Cafe. My tomato soup was delicious and my sandwich was great with fresh and quality ingredients. However, it came with mustard – which was never mentioned on the menu and I felt too guilty to send back though I strongly dislike it.I thought the decor was cute and kitschy and the service was great and very fast.I just wish their menu was a little more detailed and a little less confusing. Ask about a plate before you order, you may end up getting more than you bargained for.
Very tasty LARGE sandwiches! Loved the half sandwich and cup of soup meal. Don’t forget to take a loaf of house bread home with you! Aside from mom’s, it’s awesome!!!
Small menu but glorious sandwiches and even better deserts.
