We’ve tried this place twice but the second time we were informed by the host that there was a glitch with their liquor license so no liquor was available so we went elsewhere. And othersapparently felt the same way as the place was empty.Had they told us that when we made our reservation earlier that day we could have saved the trip. That lack of customer service dropped them down from 5 stars. The 4 stars are because our first trip was so good. First, be careful on the drinks. We found them to be very, very strong. The drink a lot of people touted in reviews, El Diablo, wasn’t as good as it was made out to be. If you like the taste of those energy drinks for teenyboppers you may like it. For food we tried a few small plates. First we tried the guacamole with sweet tater chips. The guac was excellent but the chips stole the show. They were delicious on their own! Next were the empanadas. The filling was delicious but it was overshadowed by the thick, doughy crust. The crust was far too thick and there was way too much of it. So much it drowned out the flavor of the filling. The hit of the night were the shrimp jicama tacos. These were, by far, some of the best tacos we’ve ever had. They were so good we almost ordered another plate!! All in all, we’ll be back to try all of the other dishes they offer that sound so yummy. But we’ll ask ahead of time if they’re still having issues with their liquor license.

A Mexican Gastro Pub. Not a lot of Mexican food here but real good non the less. I started with the chicken tortilla soup. Great presentation and quantity. The soup was good but tasted like enchilada sauce due to the overwhelming taste of chili pepper. Again, it was good but not for chicken tortilla soup. It would be a great enchilada soup. The hit of the dinner was the smoked risotto and scallops! Great presentation! Presented at table with a dome of smoke over the risotto and scallops. Also included was a flaming dish to gently was the scallops. They were the best scallops that I ever had! The pub also had many different styles of margaritas. I chose the classic. It was great! This place another example of the fantastic Anchorage food scene.

Finally a place that rivals any place in Seattle or any other metropolitan city outside of AK. It’s truly top notch. Amazing food and drinks. Just what Anchorage needed in order to raise the bar for dining experience. Service is fantastic! Try the smoked Manhattan, really smooth and well done.
