Not j&d BBQ put. My hope was to fine the replacement of J&d’s the rib were good but not hot. The side dishes my grandchildrrn age 2&3 could have produced something better. We won’t be back
Very disappointing !!. I have know had turnagain arm pit 3 times and each time it seems to be getting worse. Today was the last time I waste my $$ and appetite on this food. I came in super enthusiastic about the BBQ and their new location in Anchorage. The inside is adorably and friendly. The food serve to us was disgusting and distasteful! I felt like the pulled pork sandwich was the consistency of baby food. Every bite made me more angry, until I finally pushed my plate aside. The $6 sweet potato fries was the serving size of a half potato and obviously purchased from costco’s frozen food section. Bottom line I am very disappointed and can’t believe I wasted $30 on that nasty food!!
I moved here from Memphis in January. Memphis is known as the barbecue capital of the world–and with good reason. One of my greatest fears in moving to Anchorage was the lack of really good barbecue–WRONG!! Turnagain Arm serves the best brisket anywhere, and sweet tea like my mother used to make. A little pricey–but what isn’t in Anchorage–still worth it. And don’t forget about the desserts. Unbelievable.
The most yummiest ribs ever!!. We truly love going to this place…always on our way home from Seward or the Kenai Peninsula! We are so happy that it is here at midtown also!! We just absolutely love the delicious baby back ribs and the St. Louis! They are the best in the whole state of Alaska!! The coleslaw is just so fresh and delicious as well!! We love the hometown feel of the new place on corner of Old Seward and 38th. We plan to bring our family and friends here when they come into town! Thank you for the awesome food we always get there!!!Jon and JuneAnchorage, Alaska
Awesome.. The prices are reasonable for BBQ in Anchorage, and the only place that gives them any competition taste wise is JJ’s Ribs a Go Go. With JJ’s the food and portions a bit inconsistent depending on who is working there, but this place is consistent and amazing. I generally get the barnyard and everything is always piping hot and tasty. The only gripe I have is that the mac and cheese is pretty god damned bland. I was hoping that it would knock my socks off but unfortunately it definitely wasn’t worth the money. I might try it again though, as everything else has always been awesome!
Live Music and Good Food. We enjoyed our evening at the Turnagain Arm Pit. I had the dry ribs (St. Louis) and D had the pulled pork sandwich. We both liked our choices. Good smoke on the ribs, no fat and the rub was delicious. The pulled pork was excellent too which D added covered with the Original Sauce. We weren’t able to eat all we were very kindly served. We both really liked the baked beans too, smoked and a hint of spice, not too sweet. LIVE MUSIC TOO and the price was right!
