Very slow service only one person working ever
I don’t understand…. …how a restaurant can ignore the multitude of reviews all suggesting that the service, well, basically sucks. I’ve eaten here three times now. I’ve gone from really liking it to not wanting to go back JUST BECAUSE the service is so bad. I’m not asking you to kiss my ass. In fact, I like an unobtrusive server. But making a meal stretch beyond a certain comfort zone because of a server is frustrating. Asking for some water to wash down the heat THREE/FOUR times is really ridiculous. I want to like you VIP, you have very tasty food. But I won’t be back because your service is awful.
Best Korean food in AK…. …but the service really does suck…unless you are Korean too.I’ve been eating there for 20 years, but it’s because of the food, not the servers who make no attempt to hide their contempt for non-Koreans. (the owner/cook, Jose’, is a really nice guy, but is in the kitchen and doesn’t see how the wait-staff treats customers based on their race)The food is so good, and well known, that I actually heard about the place while I was living in Fairbanks. My Korean friends there in Fairbanks, knowing how much I love Korean food, kept tell me that just HAD to go to V.I.P. when I was in Anchorage, and they were right. If you want good service and a good table, go with a Korean friend…the difference in service is glaringly obvious, and consistently so, been that way for the 20 years I’ve eaten there. But the food is awesome….and that’s why I keep going back.
This is our favorite restaurant in ANC and has been 20 years. The servers treat us very well, even when there’s only one one and the place is packed.
Wonderful food!. Anyone coming to this restaurant should understand cultural differences. First off, don’t wave your hand at the servers like you would in a typical American restaurant, as this is considered quite rude, instead, hold your hand up with your fingers folded down and make a kind of flapping motion with your fingers against your palm to gain attention. The food is incredible, and if I still lived in Alaska, I would go on a regular basis. Wonderful food, and wonderful service!!
Sooooooooo GOOD. AMAZING food. AMAZING. Service? No so amazing. I’m not Korean…I have a feeling it would be different if I was. That’s ok – I accept it – but I will keep coming here for the food!
So what if the servers aren’t bowing down and kissing your ass? They get the job done and the food is SO DELICIOUS. Those little plates of pickled, etc. things they bring out? I’ve never seen so many. They were all fantastic.
