Boo!. Worst delivery service ever. Doesn’t answer the phone while open. Website says they open at 11 so I call at 2, no answer. The answering machine says open at 4… called at 430 and doesn’t answer.
I’ll be back. I was craving wings, so my husband and I just dropped in after reading about Winky’s online. I was a little surprised, and slightly disappointed, when I read the sign indicating that the food was available via take-out or delivery, as I was really looking forward to sitting down somewhere and enjoying the experience. Fortunately, this did not detour us from going in. During our 20-minute wait (where I could see the staff cooking our food), we chatted with the owner who is very friendly, personable, and accommodating. I ended up enjoying the experience despite my initial disappointment! The food I had was awesome and exactly what I was craving (I got the 10-piece hot buffalo wings and shared loaded tater tots with my husband). The restaurant has a lot more to offer than just wings, and I am excited to try some of their other menu items. I will definitely be going back–or at least I’ll be having them deliver something right to my front door.
Worseeeeeeeeeeeeeee Service. So I have never wrote a review before, not quite sure why because I love eating and I will try most any eatery. Whilst watching the UFC fight with my phone on speaker I just waited to see about how long Winky’s Wings would keep me on hold. After a total of 10 mins I hung up. This is about the 3rd time this has happened. I sincerely hope the owner of this establishment reads this review. The wings here are good but the horrible service both over the phone and in person is going to override your food EVERY TIME. The young people who work the counters are rude, disrespectful and don’t both acknowledging your customers. It’s a shame because I love giving locally owned establishments business but I can’t in good conscious give my money to people who are so rude. I hope you find new employees ASAP.
A Great Wing Place. I had their wings delivered on 9 Sep 2014. When the order was taken I was told it would take about 90 minutes. True to form, they were delivered hot in 90 minutes by no less than their owner! Winky’s is not a cookie cutter wings place, so do not expect those flavors found in those locations. Winky’s is owned and operated by locals that serve great wings and that gets my attention and usually my business every time.I had their Inferno and garlic-parmesan wings. The inferno appear to be a dry rub, but were plenty hot. While I have had hotter wings, usually there is a level of hotness, when exceeded, does not make the wings tasty. I like hot food and have had the hottest wings everywhere I go. These wings were hot enough and tasty, therefore perfect if you still want to taste the meat. The galic-parmesan was a wet type coating and were…garlicy and parmesany! Very good!My only regret is that Winky’s does not have more flavors. Other than that, the next time I pass through anchorage, they will get my business. What other wings places deliver? Not many if any. Thanks for the wings!
Decided to give them another chance, and after several deliveries to my home they now tell me it’s a $30 minimum to deliver here. Winky’s will never get another dime from me.01 May, 2014Wings have been consistently good, but when I tried to order 20 wings tonight, my usual weekly order the price mysteriously went from 23.95 last week to 31.95 this week. Tip the drivers a minimum of $5 every time. Winky’s you lost a good customer tonight!
This place brings a piece of the south to alaska. I am from the south and that’s something I have been missing up here. Soul. This place and the owner has it. It’s small, homey, and sometimes takes a while but it’s all fresh and mouth watering. The chicken wings are the star. A must for anyone wanting spicy crunchy and meaty goodness.
…or my guess is you’re going to get some serious health code violations. I decided (after lots of headbutting with my BF) to try your ‘amazing’ wings. So, not knowing that this is mostly a pick up or delivery and NOT a place to sit down, we went in to place our order. The first thing I noticed was the blue recliner behind and to the side of the counter. Yep, with someone in it watching a movie that was distractedly blaring in the corner. What? Really? The counter itself is unfinished and very dirty, and that’s just the beginning. The entire entryway is really, quite honestly, disgusting. There was a big white ‘splat’ of something on the glass door, the floors and walls are filthy. So, this has me wondering what the kitchen looks like. Scary thought. The wait made me ponder. They weren’t busy, but we waited for our food for over 1/2 hour. It looked like there were serveral people in the back, so it’s hard to say why the food took so long. My onion rings were good, cooked nice and crisp how I like them. My garlic wings were ok. Garlicy for sure. My BF’s Philly was good. But I can’t get past the uncleanliness of the place. I think that if more people went in to order, you might not be so busy. Clean it up and MAYBE I’ll be back. But not until then.
