Luke Warm. I have eaten here on a number of occasions. That’s a good comment cuz I don’t eat out much. I still remember the place from when it was the Big Boy’s (70’s-80’s) hamburger stop and had the statue out front. There has been a ton of money put into the new decor and they did it well. In the dinning room you do have your privacy if that is what your after. The bar has a nice group appeal if that’s what your after. The food has always been hot when received. The quality and variety of food is better than average. You will find the Menu both diverse and physically heavy. But the reason I don’t suggest it to others and the reason I don’t go more often IS…..the service sucks at so many levels. The poor service is in every category and very consistent? RELLY TO BAD! Where or who is hiring the wait staff has got to go! So again, I’m luke warm on this place.

I may be from Spenard, but this place is still in Anchorage.. We have had this place on our check out list for a while. Today we wandered in on a whim. Don’t judge by the outside of the building, the inside is spectacularly creative. Very nice. Host was the best. Engaged, friendly. Great start. Since this was investigatory and mid day we decided to split an entree with soup. Our server has some arrows on the target and some completely off. I think I felt like we were pre judged. Maybe because we were not dressed to her standards? (Sweater for partner and Alaskan hoodie for me.) We ordered the meatloaf to split and a bowl of lentil soup. I had ice tea. The quickest way to torque off a customer is for server to ask if you’ll have anything besides water. There are tons of ways to offer beverages without belittling. And trust me I get how hard the job of serving is.The kitchen did a great great job presenting the entree on two plates. The soup was very good. Hats off to them.No deserts on the menu. No offers of desert. Check came early without a word. Get off my table? There were plenty empty BTW.We found out on the way out from the Host that they are in the midst of revamping their dessert offerings for season changes. Turns out there were a few choices but we never knew about it at our table.Bottom line I hope they survive. Some are doing a great job.I think what we got for what we paid is a bit steep but not off the chart. I want to like the place and will go back for the chicken curry. I may wear a funky hat again, or maybe not. But it shouldn’t matter should it?

Hoping they will make it. Ive been to Yes Bistro 3 or 4 times. The outside of the building is nothing special but the inside decor is very nice. I like the artsy, modern vibe with the open kitchen. You can tell the owner spent money upgrading the space to transform it into a more upscale atmosphere than the former Dennys style restaurants that preceded it. The menu has a good variety of options and the food weve ordered each time has been prepared well. The prices are a bit steep but it seems like they use good quality products. (I still cant bring myself to pay $20 for a hamburger though.) Our customer service (from hostess to wait staff) has always been very good. In my opinion, if you want a more upscale dining experience on the east side of town this is the place to go but I do think they may have a difficult time competing with other places in Anchorage. Lots of choices for consumers who are willing to drive beyond their own neighborhood to eat at their favorite establishments. The Anchorage restaurant scene is very competitive and I hope this locally owned (non-chain) restaurant can make it.

East Anchorage, not East London. You do make good food. The prices are simply too high though. Really. You would get me again but at this point, not going to see me again for quite a while. I need to save up.

Good food. After having driven past this place several times I decided to give it a try. The interior of the building is very nice and I think if they carried that to the outside they would draw in more customers. I ordered the Yes burger with fries. Ordered as med-well, but it was more done to the well side but still juicy. The jalapeno bacon added a nice spot of spice to the burger. The fries were nothing special – take note Yes, and learn to make Longbranch fries. Waitress failed to offer re-fills on my drink. Pricing is a little high – $18, for burger/fries/drink and some complimentary bread, and then toss on the tip.
