Food unavailable…. Unfortunately, they were out of everything that we wanted to try (x3). The trash was also stacked next to the entrance as well. Needless to say, we were a little disappointed. In their defense, maybe a deliverydelivery was late, but a shame to keep inventory so low that prevents serving potentially repeat customers.
Crappy. I just got a late night snack from there. At 11pm. A simple BLT. The bread was stale tasting. The bacon was burnt. The lettuce looked brown. And the tomatoes just looked old. I will never eat there again when it is late at night.
Quite the dive but the food was great. Will go back for sure
Here fishy….. The halibut is always fresh and perfect. Fish and chips or the grilled halibut burger. But just know that the tacos are fried which is a little unnecessary. But seriously, best halibut in town. Better than the Hangar where a waiter told us that all halibut is flash frozen on the boats right when they’re caught……. don’t tell fishy tales to folks with scales, okay? I’ll throw my IFQ’s down with my napkin. I know they don’t flash freeze subsistence-caught halibut on the boat either… Hangar.Back to the Sandbar, the establishment itself isn’t the Baranof, but the folks working there are exceptionally friendly if you get to know them, which is much of the place’s appeal. It can be an interesting crowd there in the evening, but shuffleboard is a lot of fun and the pool tables there are okay. Karaoke night can get a little weird, but I think that’s all part of the charm. There’s a tight contingency of regulars, but if you’re friendly to folks, they’ll be friendly to you. And sometimes a little anonymity can be nice in a town like Juneau, eh?The best part is they serve all that awesome food until bar close. You can’t beat that at the end of a night of gin and shuffleboard!
Everyone will tell you its the best fish’n’chips in town, and they are. But my favorite is the grilled chicken burger. So moist and drippy in the best possible way. May take a while for whatever you order but I have never been disappointed. Can always call it it!
Great food and beer deals, terrible service and atmosphere. No music or anything going on a Saturday night. Won’t be returning here.
Great bar. Everyone working was friendly. Good beer selection. Great food. Went to watch some games and tried multiple Selections from a good pub food menu. Had a blast and will visit when in town again.
