We are visiting Juneau and have eaten here two mornings in a row. Fresh ingredients, friendly, helpful staff and quick service. A-May-Zing. We highly recommend Sandpiper Cafe.

This place use to be amazing, but they have really been letting us down recently. The last few times we have gone in the service has been alright, but the food is sub-par, especially compared to what we have come to expect from this once-great place. They must either be having some staff issues in the kitchen, or my husband and I just have terrible luck. The worst experience of late was from the other day. I just went in to grab lunch to-go and opted for the grilled vegetable sandwich. This seemed like a pretty straight-forward choice. Something tasted really ‘off’ while I was eating it, so I only had a few bites before throwing it away. Lo and behold, I got the worst food poisoning I have EVER had from this thing. Words can’t describe how sick I got. I don’t know what’s going on with The Sandpiper these days, but I am seriously, seriously disappointed.

We have eaten here several times, and it is a great restaurant for breakfast or lunch. Not fancy, but pleasant atmosphere and doesn’t feel crowded even when busy. The food is good, and reasonably priced (for Juneau). It didn’t get a 5 from me because of the staff. No one seems particularly happy to be working there. And it is very difficult to get your water or coffee refilled, or to pay in a timely manner once you are done eating.

Had breakfast/lunch at the Sandpiper today. We were pleasantly surprised at the decor and atmosphere when we walked in. Very clean and modern. Lots of great choices for both breakfast and lunch. We had the crab cake benedict and a bleu cheese and bacon burger. We added a bowl of navy bean soup with cornbread. All were flavorful and had great portion size. Combined with great service, it’s no wonder this is another local favorite.

Their Mochas are the absolute best anywhere!!. Just spent 4 nights in Juneau and for the first time ate at the Sandpiper Caf. It was recommended by airport staff as we flew in on a early morning flight. We ate every breakfast at their caf and enjoyed them all. But the thing we most loved were their mochas. We had one all 4 mornings while we were in town. We have been drinking mochas for 25 plus years and they make the best mochas anywhere ever!!! Wish I could replicate them!! Have already been online to see if there was a Sandpiper Caf in Anchorage for my next trip up there. 🙂

Used to be a good place to eat. Another place that thinks they don’t have any competition, food is very bland and not worth the hefty price! A few years ago it was a real treat for a weekend breakfast and didn’t mind paying the price, now, I’ll cook my own breakfast.
