  Amazing. They’re really changing this place up my and my fiance are now monthlys here the new owners and managers are really working hard to make this place ads beautiful as it once was

  When my husband and I first moved to Juneau we ate at the Breakwater because it was within walking distance from our house. The food was terrible! The atmosphere was even worse. The restaurant was run down and had an odor we could not describe. The food was your standard bar food, fried and tasteless. We decided we would never eat there again UNTILL last night. We heard from friend that they had a new menu and a new chef from Los Angeles. My friend is very picky when it comes to eating out and we figured that it had to be good is she was raving about it. What a surprise! The food was amazing! To die for actually! The menu was very clean and simple but with a twist that made it very memorable. I had the Maine lobster ravioli, my husband the New York strip with shrimp and my mom had the Jerusalem chicken. The portions were HUGE and the twist I spoke about earlier is that everything was made from scratch! The sauces, pasta, and dressings. EVERYTHING! There are not very many restaurants in Juneau that make food as good as this. Oh and at the end of our dinner the chef himself came out and asked us how or meal was. Hows that for service!! WOW!The prices are fair for the quality of food you get and with the huge portions you’ll have leftovers for lunch the next day. The new owners did a great job cleaning up the restaurant and bar so the atmosphere comfortable. I cant wait to go back and eat there again. I will defiantly tell everyone about my dining experience at the Breakwater.

  Excellent Choice if Downtown. This place is located atop a mediocre-looking hotel/motel on the edge of downtown right north of Juneau-Douglas High School. Do not be swayed by the parking lot or exterior of the hotel (which is NOT fancy). Once inside, head up the stairs to the third floor. What awaits the traveler or local alike is a NICE semi-pub style restaurant with outstanding views of the harbor and excellent food choices. The service can be slow at times, but it is THE place to hang out for weekend and Monday nite football games during season. The food generally is VERY good for Juneau, occasional drink specials can wet the appetite even further, but its the overall atmosphere that makes it what it is: arguably THE best place in Juneau to hang out to unwind and socialize.
