Great service but….the food sucked. It was like they bought the pork scraps from safeway to make the pork fried rice. Decent portions but pork was all fat no meat. Upon reading other reviews Zen looks hit or miss. For the price its not worth taking the chance
It’s really touch and go as far as how the food is. Must depend on who is cooking. Sometimes its great American/Asian food, other times over cooked and chewy. Kai-ping shrimps always been a good appetizer. I have always had hood service and there is a lot to choose from, especially ad far as beer, wine and liquor choices.
Had a great time at Zen! The atmosphere was lovely and the food was good. Prices were typical for Juneau restaurants, especially hotel restaurants.
Has upgraded!. So about a year ago, I had stopped going to Zen because they used something to cook with that was very rough on my guts… BUT I started going there again last spring, and was PLEASANTLY SURPRISED. Very reasonable lunch specials and friendly staff. Barely any waiting time. Nice atmosphere, as always… My favorite dish there is the chicken curry! Many other delicious options, also.
This is a ‘fusion’ restaurant, so comparing it to typical Chinese is not really a good comparison. The food is great, decent price — ALL food in Alaska, especially Juneau is overpriced so don’t hold that against them! There are a couple of not so friendly employees, but they do have some extra nice employees as well. I love their food, so they get my vote!
