Not seasoned enough. Dining room staff not seasoned. Last summer I had family in town and called to Palmer Ale House to ask if they could accomodate 7 of us for dinner. I was told that they could not take a reservation for less than 10 but would try to seat us right away if we wanted to come in. The Ale house was busy and it was a Saturday night. We arrived at the Ale house about 6:30 and got our names on a list of larger parties. After an hour our name was number one on the list. I checked in fairly often with dining room staff since my family was foced to stand outside while waiting for a table. Several times I noticed that the dining room continued to seat 2 and 4 tops as they arrived at the Ale House while we continued to wait. At one point I asked to dining room staff if they could take us, because I noticed that two four tops were about to finish and were adjacent to each other. I was told no. Finally after two hours of waiting I began to compain and when a four top opened I offered to take it if the dining room manager would allow us to pull three additional chairs up to the table to accomodate our group. We were finally allowed to be seated in this fashion. I have been in the business of running dining rooms for 10 years and have never seen such a lack of customer service and organization in a dining room. The food is great, the staff are wonderful and the manager seems good too. But the dining room is not being responsive to customers and was inflexible with scheduling tables on a busy night. I haven’t been back since and don’t know that I will ever take my family to the Palmer Ale House again.06 Nov, 2014Ale house needs to be more seasoned. I called the Palmer City Ale House to make a reservation for 7 and was told that they do not accept reservations for parties under 10. I was told to come by because they would seat us as soon as possible. We waited for two hours outside as 2-4 person parties were seated. At one point I walked in and noticed that there were two 4 tops finishing dinner at the same time. I asked if the dining room could accomodate us by putting the two four tops together and was told no. After two hours I offered to sit at a four top and add three chairs, which I was told I could do. I have been in the restaurant business for more than 10 years and have never seen a dining room managed in this way. The lack of organization, flexibility and focus on customer service astounded me. I like the food, love the atmosphere, and most of the service personnel are great…but the dining room management leaves much to be desire. I haven’t been back since.
GOURMET PIZZA! FRIENDLY ATMOSPHERE. I’ve had all kinds of pizza. but these guys have gourmet. It’s crispy crust has great homemade flavor. Oh and great beer too!! Please try and see for yourself. I’m a local, and I know best lol. Have fun and enjoy a pizza that rocks so effortlessly. Yumm!!!
Best wings ever!. I love the wings with homemade blue cheese! I’ve tried all over the west coast of U.S., and yet they are still the best. I live in Anchorage, and when visiting grandkids in Palmer, my husband and I stop by for the wings.
Great place – beer, food & live music!!. I love the Palmer Ale House!! Its exactly what Palmer needed, a nice place where you can get dinner, have a selection of over 40 beers and now listen to live music every Saturday! I have had a lot of dishes on their menu and have not been disappointed with any of them. I especially love the chicken tacos, prime rib dip, chicken goat cheese salad and of course all the IPA’s. Cheers!!
I will never return. After 2 previous trips with long waits and bad service, we decided to go and give it another shot. Craft beer in disposable, 10 oz plastic cups is atrocious. Especially when the prices advertise a pint. And when you ask for a glass pint, the owner himself curses at you and throws stuff around. That mixed with the sub par food will ensure I never return. I encourage others not to as well.
The food was good, but it took forever and a day to get.
My husband and I both had burgers, and they were amazing. We’ll be back!
