Amazing food, so-so service. Had a reservation for 7:00pm and we were running late so we tried to call to let them know, but no one answered the phone. When we arrived, they didn’t have our table ready, so we had to wait for a couple minutes. They tried to put us at a table for 4 people, when we had a party of 5 so after convincing them we wanted a bigger table, they set it up for us. We had to flag people down for menus, bread and waters. Our waiter was nice, but not very talkative. When we asked if they had a particular item, such as eggplant Parmesan, he simply said yes we have everything. Based on the waiters recommendation, I ordered the pasta trio. It was delicious. Gnocchi, spinach ravioli and penne pasta in a light pink sauce. All vegetarian. I highly recommend it. I also sampled my sister’s dish which was mushroom risotto and that was equally as delicious. We got a bunch of desserts to share: tiramasu, cheesecake, chocolate cake and creme brulee. The best dessert was by far the chocolate cake! Heavenly! The owner swung by our table twice and was super friendly. I definitely recommend Avanti’s, but be ready to spend a lot of time there and don’t be turned off by the mob/italian scene, 80’s decorations and non-talkative waiters. We used a coupon from Dine4Az and saved almost 30 dollars. Made up for the service!
Phoenix Gem for Italian. We actually came here for the first time for a wine makers dinner, and it was a fantastic evening. Although it was already a set menu, will be back for the regular menu.
We decided to try this place cause we were staying nearby and the reviews looked decent. This place is GREAT!
My next favorite Italian restaruant (next to Michelina’s)! Been going there since I was a wee little one. Very good food and atomsphere. Highly recommend for romantic dinner or celebration. You won’t be disappointed, Jacko’s promise. 🙂
