Exiting Glendale early, The Buckeyes warranting neither applause nor a battle with traffic when laying an egg at the Fiesta Bowl, it was at Becketts Table that consolation was found as the East Coast celebrated 2017, an a la carte three-course meal served with no price hikes by smiling servers from a Chef whose comfortable American cuisine continues to do Phoenix proud.Conceptualized as an honest kitchen built on the idea of family and friends, its 2010 opening seemingly far longer than just a little over six years ago, Becketts table was formed as the result of two couples with a passion for food, beverage and the city they inhabit, most of the ingredients brought in from no more than thirty miles away while Northern Arizonas growing number of Wineries become more and more prevalent on a sizeable drink list. All blonde wood and bricks with a open kitchen in the rear, a style familiar to many modern-American kitchens, it was moments prior to a nine oclock reservation that the party checked in with a doorside hostess, a quick path past several well-dressed locals seating three at a square table with a good view of the pass, Chef Justin and his team working diligently with more attention to detail that rumors have suggested, a nightly special of skewered Pig Trotters unfortunately just sold-out, though the menu still presented plenty of choices.Dining with one wide awake youngster and his mother, a bargain glass of Sparkling Wine starting the nights celebration, it from a friendly middle-aged woman that a basket of warm Bread was delivered, the cheesy Onion Rolls quite nice while dark Rye Rolls were event better, particularly as a means for sopping the leftover Sauce from a bowl of creamy Grits, grilled Sausage and light notes of Mustard.Unable to ignore one of several self-designated signatures amongst the starters, Becketts Original Grilled Cheese served crunchy with a smooth center alongside piquant Tomato Soup made for dipping, entrees arrived shortly thereafter with Beckett’s Table Signature Fork Tender Short Ribs and a sizable hunk of confit Pork Osso Bucco, the competition for which was richer essentially a toss-up, though tilted in favor of the Beef as the buttery Potato puree seemed more decadent than the springy Garlic and Black Pepper Egg Noodles. More than a little surprised by a generously portioned Cheeseburger and French Fries from the Kids menu, a decision to double down on Bacon Cheddar Biscuits and oven-roasted Stuffing made from day-olds proving well worth it as each set a high-standard for American Holiday staples, dessert saw deconstructed Peanut Butter, Bacon Smores that would have benefitted from housemade Graham Crackers presented next to nothing short of a brilliant idea, the Award Winning Pecan Pie with a Fig Jam base made all the more enchanting be a lightly charred Crust and a tangy ball of Ice Cream. endoedibles.com
The pork osso bucco confit came highly recommended and it did not disappoint. The meat literally fell off the bone, the Dijon spaetzle proved to be s delightful surprise as the texture and understated flavor complimented the pork. Finished the evening with a deconstructed homemade bacon smore and peach cobbler. The cobbler could have used a little more crumbling texture but the flavor was rich. The bacon smore was fun but the store bought graham cracker took away from the brittle like Carmel, chocolate slathered bacon, and homemade marshmallow. Good but probably wouldn’t go out of my way for it.
Poor experience. We have eaten here before & found it to be excellent but this time will be the last time we eat at Beckett’s table. We were a party of four and to say that the service was lacklustre would be very generous. My wife’s white sea bass was actually served so cold it might have come straight from the refrigerator with the exception it had obviously been cooked, so that would indicate it was left out to get stone cold while the other dishes were prepared. There were four of us and although my food was excellent the food served to our two guests was very ordinary. But for the extremely poor, bordering upon rude, service, the evening would have been at least OK after the sea bass was exchanged for a warmer one, which took far too long since the other three of us had almost finished eating when the replacement arrived and was thrown in front of my wife. I have never had such poor service in any decent restaurant and unfortunately I don’t feel I can recommend Beckett’s table to anyone. No one visited our table to apologize for the cold food and I suspect the server did not even mention it to anyone in management because I cannot see any reasonable manager failing to at least visit our table to apologize.
The best of the best!. Beckett’s Table is a go to for our family! We have been so many times and every time the food has been fantastic. First, the staff and servers are the nicest, most friendly and knowledgeable folks! The atmosphere is cozy chic and always bustling with energy! The noise level has never been too loud. I have taken my parents there many times both who have trouble hearing and they have never had a problem. Plus, you can always request their patio which is quieter and so beautiful. They have a fabulous wine list which includes many AZ wines. Love that! They have always steered us in a perfect wine direction. Now for the food! Chef Justin really is the most talented! The flavors and textures are out of this world. We always order the brussel sprouts- They are done to perfection. Some favorites for meals are the short ribs, the salmon, osso bucco and the burger. I am GF and they always accommodate me with ease. The deserts have always been fab but the chocolate dipped bacon smores are the best! My kids even love it! We have brought our kids many times, who love the kids menu and love to dine there! You will love it here!
Love!. I love, love, love this place. The food is amazing, the prices are reasonable, the drinks are great, the ambiance is fantastic. What more can I say?!
Unbelievable pork osso buco. The service here was GREAT. The food was amazing too. Justin was a great server and had great recommendations for wine and food. Definitely stop here!
Wanted to try something new for our 5th anniversary. Made reservations and while we waited for our table we sat at the community table for a cocktail. Met a new friend who comes quite often and had wonderful menu suggestions for us. Being that it was our anniversary we wanted to sit privately or else we would have stayed and chatted…May have to return just to experience the social community table again. Food was delicious fall off the bone tender, we had short ribs and pork osso buco. Only issue was that they forgot us at the community table and we didn’t get seated until after I had to question if they forgot us. (we weren’t upset as we thoroughly enjoyed the company of our new found friend) They comped our dessert and gave us a comped dessert coupon for next time. Also, when I made the reservation they had took note that it was our anniversary…every staff member congratulated us throughout the night which made it special.
