Ceviche is my favorite. I disagree with vero0507. I am peruvian and love their food specially the ceviche. It is true that even they have tone down the food to suit the american taste which makes it not as good as the original peruvian cooking but still pretty damn good. I usually need to get peruvian yellow chili on the side and mix it in the ceviche and drink the tiger’s milk right after (what us peruvians call the juice left at the bottom of the plate). Their aji de gallina (chili chicken) is pretty good and so is the papa rellena (stuffed potato). Again on the foods that are supposed to be spicy I always add the chili. Still it is the best food in town other than my home cooking.
El Farol Is Wonderful. What a pleasant surprise to enjoy the Peruvian tastes of El Farol! I visited with two co-workers because it is near to our office in SkySong (Phoenix/Scottsdale border) and one fellow loves Peru, Peruvian food and just returned from there. We all loved it! The chicken was well spiced, the lamb was exquisite and my beef was tender and delicious. Our Peruvian compadre was sold on the authenticity and the rest of us just recognized excellent food. The restaurant doesn’t look like much from the street, but it’s neat and clean, the pictures of Peru are quaint and the waitress was very friendly and helpful. Well worth a visit for lunch or dinner.

TIO. As of May 29th, 2010, your listing erroneously showed El Farol as CLOSED. The truth is that there have been a number of brief temporary closures for various emergencies, but never a permanent closing.I have dined at Pardo’s in Lima,Peru, and at El Farol, and find that El Farol’s Pollo a la Brasa is at least as good or better and is definitely cooked on a large rotisserie on the premises.Yes, the menu is limited as this is a small operation, but the food is very good and authentically Peruvian. Many native Peruvians I know have highly praised the food. It would appear that vero0507 must have a personal issue with the owner.FYI, I am acquainted with the owner, but have no connection to the business. I am writing only in the interest of truth and fairness.
