Good French style food, it is walk up counter service, seating is uncomfortable not meant for a long stay. We ordered the Huevos Frenchos and the Essence Scrambled Eggs. The eggs were light, creamy and fluffy. Really enjoyed the texture and flavor. The peppered bacon was crispy which is how we asked, and the baguette toasted came with a slightly sweet berry preserve.

GREAT Food, fantastic baked treats but terrible service. Oh and they could use a larger or extra coffee station as it always seems to be empty.

Nice place. A very nice, comfortable, albeit austere and dark, interior. Good food, well prepared. Friendly service. Don’t judge this book by it’s cover. Zero curb appeal. It’s an old building, but the inside makes up for this. Their macaroons are sublime. We’ll be back.

This location needs to get it together. On my first visit, a part of my order was missing, which I only discovered once I got home. The next time, I wanted to pay for a lunch order during breakfast and come back later to pick it up; this is something that I’ve done at the Tempe location. I was told by the front end manager Polly, in a rather unapologetic and rude manner, that this is not something that they will do at this location- but the owner is the same,so what is the reason for this? The policies should be the same for each location!! It is extremely difficult to call in an order during lunch at Essence Bakery, FYI. I also ordered a dessert and the cashier once again forgot to put it in my bag, I realized it wasn’t there and had to ask for it. I understand that this location is new, but the level of customer service I’ve received has been rather poor. Essence Bakery has lost a loyal customer.
