The place had a fun smoky smell while being very clean. Menu is small but a good variety. Homemade potato chips were fun, lemonade not too sweet or tart. Sand which bread was tasty and the meat cooked well. Pretty quiet for lunch but would bet things pick up at night around the open area bar. If you like meat and bread, I would recommend giving it a try!
Great Place to Eat and Hang Out. Cool place. Extensive wine list. Cool cocktails. Good Happy hour. We had house-made potato chips and dip, braised short rib tacos and the green chili mac and cheese. It was all very good. Will definitely be back!!
We love this place! Elevated bar food, happy hour specials and a hip relaxed atmosphere . I can’t understand why after a year there are leds than 100 votes with only a 79% like rating. This place is consistently great! Tonight we had the short ribs braised in wine and served with a perfect celerity root pure and red wine glaze. Fantastic!!
It’s good for edamame and a glass of wine but that’s literally the only good thing. They’re not particularly clean, at all. The kitchen crew is unprofessional, there is difference between a relaxed atmosphere and the unprofessional attitude that permeates throughout kitchen 56. The food is uninspired and average tasting and the menu descriptions often don’t match up with the food presented. The food also tends to be annoyingly overpriced.
Don’t Get Your Kicks at Kitchen 56. My husband and I recently had dinner here and we were disappointed with both the food and the service. We sat at the bar and the two bartenders that were working barely acknowledged us despite the fact that they were not busy. When we did get their attention we ordered the mussels and a hamburger. The broth the mussles were in was flavorful, but the mussels themselves were chewy and tastless and we weren’t offered any bread for the broth. The hamburger was just average for the price. Neither bartender ever checked on us, asked about our meal, or offered a second round of drinks. They chatted with each other while we sat waiting with dirty dishes in front of us until we finally asked for our check. A neighborhood restaurant needs to hire staff that caters to the customers and Kitchen 56 is seriously lacking in customer service. There are many options in the Arcadia area so unless they step up their game we will not be return customers.
Tasty unique and cool!. Oh my what a cool place. This is what suburban renewal could/should be. It seems like it might be a neighborhood spot but I have to say as out of towners, this is a place we will be telling our friends about. Great food (foodies will smile), cool space (nothing cookie cutter), pretty great wine prices too. We were a little suprised because we thought it was a burger joint, but nope, the menu is really broad with so many choices we let our server (Mike? Mark? M….??) help us choose some calamari which has some spicey peanut sauce on it. Never had it like that. LOVED it. There is this huge photo of the way the building used to look across the diningroom that makes you feel the retro vibe. We might be crazy but the crew working here were really happy. Is that possible? The old gas station doors are still there and they have this full view of Camelback mountian. We had steak frite (oh lord, juicy and flavors jumping out!) and some tofu over noodle beauty. Had a bit o malbec and then finished off with a creme brulee. So good. The waiter mentioned a fig sauce so I was in! This is a really good find.
Good food!. Had the angus burger and it was very good. Cole slaw, not so much….and the frys could have been cooked a little longer. I sat out on the patio, great day for it yesterday, beautiful day! They weren’t real busy, seemed like the bartender was having a bad day…not sure why, maybe his first day. The lunch was going well, until the horses tied up right by the patio decided to leave a mess on the pavement, and the 2 women, well, one was just a child maybe 12, sitting at the bar eating continued to eat and I don’t know if finally someone said something to them but it turned out to be a smelly disgusting lunch. I had took the rest of my lunch to go and left. Everyone around me was complaining. Hopefully they will put a stop to this. No one really wants to smell that while they are trying to eat. I will go back, food was really too good not too, maybe next time the server will be better, and horses won’t be allowed to be so close to the eating area.
