Lunch with a new friend. Ordered the roast turkey sandwich with side salad. Salad was just some butter lettuce pieces with balsamic dsg. Turkey was a dry sandwich without the onion, mayo, cranberry sauce and onion as described on the menu. During our time there I heard a server say 3 times that she was called in on her day off. Perhaps the chef also called off on that day. I won’t be back.
What a disappointment!. In from out of town this restaurant was recommended to us. There were 3 of us and we all had the same disappointing impression. Our dinner began with stale bread. The fried chicken was not available as we overheard a waiter tell another guest that they forgot to place an order for the chicken. I ordered the smoked salmon scallops. A small bowl stuffed with greens and a few sparse pieces of scallops arrived. There was no dressing on the salad. The presentation was highly unappealing and the lack of any dressing made this a tasteless dish of lots of greens. My filet mignonette arrived on a very small plate already sliced. The plate was so small that the sliced filet nearly fit on the dish. The blood from the filet mixed with the white mushroom sauce on the plate turning it into a swirling bath of pink muck. The meat screamed for salt and pepper. The meat was tasteless and as tough as shoe leather. My husband ordered the salmon which arrived swimming in an indescribable broth. It should of been called salmon soup. The cauliflower side dish was also disappointing. The cauliflower was overly charred and the sauce which was indescribable should not have been paired with cauliflower. When we finally received the bill, the $16 charge for a Cosmo caught me by surprise. Chef Bink was clearly nowhere in sight. I will not go back.
Outstanding and Unique. I’ve been here many times for lunch and a few times for dinners. The proteins are always masterfully prepared. The sauces and breads are house made. The menu changes and is usually Unique. I enjoyed the Frisee and Spaghetti Squash Salad. It had a Maple Vinaigrette, crispy sage leaves, pomegranate, quince, walnuts and radiccio. I added turkey to the salad and it was very moist and seemed like it was SousVide. The walnuts in the salad were roasted so much they almost seemed like air. the food is always interesting and different but I do note I have been here a few times and a few times the portions have been too small. Service is usually very good but like any other place when they get too busy they sometimes crumble. update 7-30-17 The restaurant is now ran by the the co-partner Chef and is doing some amazing things there. After a couple of visits I felt the need to up them from 4 stars to 5 stars…The Dinners I tried were what I’d call world class. Couldn’t be better with amazing service.
Very overpriced and food lacks flavor and undercooked. Raw fried chicken and hard beans. Supposedly smoked a pig, no flavoring. Dessert cookie raw with ice cream that turned soupy.
Very good cafe. We were there last fall, the food was outstanding as was the service. My wife and I had had completely separate meals and kept sharing because they were so good. The staff were excellent. We are going back to Scottsdale this December and Cafe Bink is our first stop. We have travelled extensively and Cafe Bink rates high up for good food!
Where Binkleys is amazing, cafe bink is the poor relation – the Billy Carter, the Roger Clinton of restaurants. Service is lacking but the food… sub par. Raw chicken! Inexcusable. Sent it back and the girl re-fried the same piece – returning greasy chiken to me that I had taken a bite out of… Kevin Binkley is NOT cooking here
Great meal at Cafe Bink. Had dinner at Cafe Bink! It lived up to the many great reviews! The antipasto plate was beautiful and scrumptious charcuterie platter with spicy capicola, aged pecorino, salami! It was served with caper berries, which were salty and really interesting! The country pate is so good! Don’t be turned off by ‘pate’ – it is a must have! Others at the table ordered Amy’s Bolognese, a lovely perfectly seasoned meat sauce served with a creamy polenta! To die for. I had the chicken pot pie! It is light and healthy, but was a little bland! Good to eat when you are under the weather, but generally I would skip it. For dessert, I indulged in the butterscotch creme brle, which was perfectly prepared. The profiteroles were decadent and the donuts? Oh they were hot, airy, rich and cakey! They are served with three sauces: creme anglaise, sticky caramel and chocolate! So good! If you are in Carefree, AZ, go to Cafe Bink!
