Restaurant within walking distance from many of the downtown hotels which is good because their margaritas are extremely strong. We wanted to try some tex-mex why we were in the area so headed over and had the combination of steak and shrimp fajitas, they were loaded with lots of veggies and also came with rice and beans. Steak was a little over cook for my liking. We began with chips and salsa which was good though the chips were different, they were a puffy tortilla chip with a seasoning on it. Nice touch bringing your tortillas in a cornhusk along with when they bring your check it has white chocolate with almonds that is wrapped in a cornhusk as well. Great outside patio area.

The Canyon Cafe serves Tex – Mex – Spanish Inspired Foods in Downtown Phoenix. They offer a lovely large patio and big strong margaritas (limit is two). They start you off with an assortment of complimentary tortilla chips and salsa. I had the Blacken Salmon Caesar Salad. The salmon was ok but the dressing lacked caesar flavoring and was very similar to thinned down mayonnaise. My husband had the Chile Relleno stuffed with fajita steak. The steak was good but the Paella Rice tasted like a box mix that was unbelievably over loaded with strong smoke and the rice was the wrong texture. It’s not the best food but it’s also not the worst. The complimentary chips and complimentary white chocolate tamale were the tastiest of what we tried.
