If you are looking to have fresh sushi this place is it. Sushi made to order and when it arrives it is done perfectly. We ordered several appetizers and an entree each. As our dishes were brought to the table we realized that some of the entrees were brought out before all the appetizers. When we question the server he said thats they bring out food as it is prepared and not in an order if appetizers first and entrees later. As it turns out it worked out because we just shared all the dishes. Each appetizer and entree sushi rolls were fresh and delicious. Once done we ordered desert, pineapple upside down treat. OMG soooo good. You need to see my posted picture of the upside down pineapple. A picture says a thousand words.

Late night oasis. Over two nights I tried the Sesame Kale Salad (with salmon added), the Spicy Vegetable Udon, and the Miso Black Cod. All dishes were quite good, especially the Spicy Vegetable Udon. I didn’t try any sushi so I don’t know what to make of buff crone’s highly negative review. It would be easy to overlook this place, thinking that it was just a bar. But they serve the full menu until midnight and as late as 2 am on Friday and Saturday. I talked to one of the waiters who said they were trying to corner the late night market. It looks like they have succeeded.
I will come back. I must be spoiled from eating sushi in Vancouver last month because the sushi rolls here in AZ seem small. It’s really hard to find really good sushi in Arizona (that isn’t so overpriced). My expectations were high when I read about Squid Ink sushi opening downtown. I liked the Shishito peppers appetizer, but found the sushi average. But to their defense I only ate what was on their happy hour menu (basics – California rolls, Philly rolls etc). I will have to come another time and check out their specialty rolls. They have killer happy hour prices. I love the location (CityScape) and the restaurant has a great atmosphere to it. My bartender gave great service! foodartandculture.com
Worst sushi imaginable. The restaurant is in a new building downtown but the food is awful. They got my order wrong and what they delivered was all but inedible. I sent back the yellowtail and they took it off the bill, but the albacore and the other dishes were almost as bad. Avoid this place.
