Worst experience ever. We went to have dinner on a Saturday night. The main restaurant was full so we ended up sitting in their lounge. The bartender put our three rolls in at 7:30 and we didn’t get our food until 8:30. The manager did not come and talk to us once about the wait. The bartender apologized about the wait and informed us that there were only two sushi chefs back there. Meanwhile, there was a sushi chef that worked there at the opposite end of the bar drinking. We did not get any kind of discount or apology from the manager. I am a local here in Flagstaff and I will never spend another dime in one of Juan’s establishments.

Not returning. My friend and I had terrible experience. We were drawn in by happy hour prices, location and atmosphere. We were driven out by bad service, greasy entree (General Tsao) and permits smoking on the patio. Travis the acting manager asked if everything was ok and we alerted him on the problem with excuse after excuse. Hit with a big rush?!? 1/4 of the restaurant was full. I’m sorry

Great happy hour. We sat in the bar. The bar tender was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the appetizers. The happy hour menu has many choices and the prices are very reasonable.

Not good. With all the remodeling you’d think they’d improve the menu. Instead it’s more like a college bar with mediocre food.03 Jul, 2013Complete remodel but worse. The food was always decent, and now it’s gone downhill. Now it’s more like a 20-something college bar gaysian restataurant.

Update. Went to eat here last week and they have redone the decor of the restaurant and I think it looks a lot better, more trendy and with an Asian influence. They added a huge bar in the front and I was told are looking to do some further renovations. The orange chicken I am a huge fan of was a slightly different recipe (added mandarin oranges?) but still delicious. Our server that day wasn’t exactly friendly, she never smiled once or looked like she enjoyed her job, but service was prompt….still a fan =)26 Nov, 2012BEST ORANGE CHICKEN EVER. I used to work downtown and would eat at Monsoon’s regularly. The orange chicken is my hands down favorite of anywhere I have been, mostly because it is crispy chicken breast strips/pieces and not thick hunks of breaded mystery chicken meat. The sauce is sweet as well. Another good dish is the honey lemon chicken. Lettuce wraps are great too. Nice location, fun to people watch or sit on the patio when the weather is nice. Every time i go back home I always make a stop here. keep up the good work!

Really Bad. Of all the places we could have tried for lunch, we are SORRY we went here. We stopped for lunch in flagstaff while driving to Vegas, and thought Asian food would be good. While the service was good, the food was terrible. I ordered miso soup (it was luke warm and when I bit into the tofu, it was COLD on the inside). The vegetables in the soup were raw–like everything was in the refrigerator and they threw it in a cup of warm water! My husband ordered the chicken masala and said it tasted like it was directly out of a frozen package, and his veggies were also raw. ( Ishouold note that he is not picky!) I ordered an Asian salad with tofu. Fist of all, I am a vegetarian, so I LOVE vegetables. I love onions of all kinds. BUT THIS was too much! 75% of the salad was raw sliced onions (green and white), the spinach was on the verge of slimy, the mushrooms hadn’t been washed or even brushed off before sliced, and I totally lost my appetite after about 5 bites. They also brought my salad dressing in a soup bowl on the side which I thought was weird…? Don’t waste your money here!

DESPERATELY NEEDS A MANAGER to Manage/Train staff. This place DESPERATELY NEEDS A MANAGER to Manage/Train his staff, or is it that the manager is an owner who is not concerned (due the fact that the bar profits alone pay his bills) or is he simply unaware that the restaurant customers are not complaining enough. If it is the latter, then the owner/manager needs to be inspired to improve, and observe what is truly going on. After being seated by the hostess and waiting approx. 15 minutes without any type of service, I felt compelled to request a Manager. But first let me explain why I felt the need for a manager. Within this 15 minute period of waiting to call for some help, and NOT being visited by any other staff member, I had observed a number of concerning issues with this restaurant. 1) Other tables had also been waiting to be acknowledged by a waitress or waiter. 2) Some were tired of waiting and simply got up and walked out. 3) Waiters and waitresses were too busy hanging out and socializing amongst themselves. 4) For those tables that were being served, it appeared that one person would receive an item, but others had to sit awhile and watch this person eat or the person that received their item had to wait awhile (although I was not able to confirm, perhaps the kitchen staff are way to slow in preparing food, or also to busy socializing?) After requesting to speak with the manager, he promptly shows up with a drink in his hand, closely clutched next to his chest. Hmmm.was he sitting in the bar or it simply an iced tea? In any event, I explain my situation of waiting to have my order taken. He responds by stating I will see what happen. Please be advised that there were no apologies expressed or any type of body language that displayed concern. It should also be noted that while I was speaking with him, his eyes appeared to be wandering elsewhere. POS: Ahhh..but there is one good thing that came out of this visit. I was served very promptly and graciously for the rest of time there. CONS: Perhaps the lesson to be learned here is that the manager should be observing his staff on an ongoing basis (in other words, deal with or manage them more closely, and not trust his staff to know what should be donetraining is desperately needed). Furthermore, the Manager should approach his customers in a more professional manner (self awareness of his actions is lacking). Overall, a positive overhaul would improve the customer’s experience. FOOD OPINION: Taste of food is descent (blah), but nothing special. Was the fish food previously frozen? Maybe they should hire a chef consultant to improve upon their own recipes? Not sure, but based upon my own experience (and from others I have read and heard from), they are indeed in need of some help! Like anything else in this world, this is only my own opinion. Please visit for yourself and gather your own opinion from those experiences at the Monsoon in Flagstaff AZ.
