Really good food for a really good price. Our party of 3 got the jambalaya, blackened cod po’boy, and brisket sandwich and all entres were delicious. Everyone at our table loved the coleslaw.

This is the real deal for BBQ. Had the ribs, which are served with just a mop – best in memory. Authentic flavour, lots of meat. It was Arizona beer week, and they had lots of choice on tap and let us sample first. Very friendly and helpful staff, BBQ joint atmosphere at an out of the way spot. Unlikely you’d stop here just by looking at it, but you should.

Satchmo’s was AWESOME!!! I had the gumbo with cornbread and some Jambalaya. They were both the best I’ve ever had. The staff was extremely pleasant, too. If you’re in Flagstaff, you need to try Satchmo’s.

Worth hunting for.. Great food, and wonderful service. You will have to hunt hard to find this place but it is well worth it. Pull up, get over it, and go in. You will be pleasantly surprised. TOTS!

BBQ Lover. I love good BBQ ribs. The ones I had at Satchmos were some of the worst I have ever had. I believe they were boiled before cooked on the grill. I left four of the ribs on the plate, they were that bad. The smoked beans were good, the tater tots were… well tater tots. My wife had a pork sandwich and ate less than half. So… The Cajun food may be good, but do not go there for BBQ, that is if you like BBQ.

The kind of food thats good for your soul…. I did the happy dance when I experienced Satchmos for the first time… Hubby as my witness! From the instant that smokey sweet aroma slithered into my nostrils I knew we were made for each-other. In true BBQ fashion, this hole in the wall isnt much on atmosphere. But theres no such thing as a classy BBQ joint… is there? Its like putting socks on a rooster it just doesnt seem fitting. OMG the beans…Hubby says that good BBQ is defined by the beans. These pit smoked beans are the perfect marriage of sweet and spicy. And just when you think youve got them pegged, theres a smokey essence that creeps up behind you, smacks your taste buds on the butt, and whispers good game, I win. Did AC/DC shred this pork?Satchmos BBQ takes up to 16 hours of slow smoking over fruit and nut wood and tedious preparation. And their homemade spice and Cajun seasonings are in a class of their own. But theres something rock and roll about the pulled pork… maybe its the crispy caramelization on random chunks marbled throughout the pile, maybe its the tender juiciness of the meat itself, or maybe AC/DC had a hand in it?Hubbys more of a beef guy, so he made a mad-dash for the sliced brisket. The meat was lean and fork tender, and had a smooth smokey finish. If you can, order both the pork AND the brisket. But hubby and I agree if the pork and brisket were in a slap fight, the pork would probably win.Lets get saucy…Are you a sweet, a spicy, or a sweet and spicy kind of creature? Well at Satchmos you dont have to pick. You can be one, the other, or all three! I like to turn up the heat, so I go straight for the spicy. Its tangy, just sweet enough, and packs just enough punch to get your blood flowing. Hubby cant take the heat, so he mixes the sweet with the spicy. His grin the size of Texas and sauce dripping from his chin says it all… there wont be any leftovers!!Dont Skip The Tots…Ive never done drugs, but Im pretty sure they season these crispy little devils with crack cocaine. They make you want to go home and put on your stretchy pants, and theyre worth every bite! And with that, Ill leave you with my favorite quote about BBQ…Spare rib anyone-Adam forkmedaily.com

Looks dumpy from the outside, but nice patio and inside, off the beaten path but not by much. Brisket is good as well as the red beans and rice. Good beers too. Definitely go back when I’m up north.
