Know what you’re looking for. Not fine dining – it’s loud, but not terribly cheap ($12 for an entree and glass of fruit juice). Staff are friendly, but I asked the waitress to recommend an entree that wasn’t too spicy. It was definitely spicy. (No refills on the fruit juice so I just had to suffer.) I didn’t particularly enjoy the experience. Others like it, but not for me.
Happy Return. I had not been to this place in a long while. This is one of the best local restaurants in Tucson. You can only catch them for breakfast and lunch. The food here is so authentic in flavor and the restaurant ambient and staff make it fun. Today I had my favorite Pollo en Mole Negro, Chicken with Mole Negro sauce. The flavor in this dish has not changed and it is unique and unforgettable. You also need to know that they make about the only edible Mexican rice in town. Your plate comes with a salad and fruit. You also get a side of some top notch Frijoles Caldudos, whole beans in broth. You really waddle out of this restaurant. the portions are big and you dare not leave anything in the plate (it is so delicious you will kick yourself later if you do).You also have to sample the big menu of Aguas Frescas, delicious concoctions to accompany you meal.23 Mar, 2012This is a place you must experience if you live or visit Tucson.
Great Chicken Mole. I really enjoyed the food at Little Cafe Poca Cosa. The service was prompt and the Chicken Mole was delicious! The mole was well balanced not too sweet and not overdone by molasses as other restaurants I have tried. Just remember this is a cash only restaurant and be ready to receive a hug on by the owner!
Best Catering!. Best CateringMarcela catered an event for ~ 70 people and she and her staff did a wonderful job! First off; she is a perfectionist and extremely professional. She assessed the site well before the event, she had excellent recommendations for improvements for the site, she was very flexible to our desires (without allowing us to make mistakes), and her continuous assessment detected and fixed glitches that occurred. Since we were out of towners she had specific recommendations for us in terms of flowers, etc.And the food was excellent and received many compliments.
A Tucson original. Nothing else anywhere duplicates Little Poca Cosa, what more needs to be said? Everything from interesting, well-prepared food to an energized atmosphere. You may even get a parting hug from Ms. Davila, if you play your cards right. I usually get the chef’s choice sampler, so I can try many things out. I’ve never had anything I didn’t like. The liquados are always a treat as well. The basil limon is recommended. I will note that it is always *very* loud in Little Poca Cosa, so not the place for a serious conversation. But the loud is do to great music, so I and friends love it.
Everything is delicious and great value. I enjoyed the chicken mole, best I’ve had, and basil lemonade. Don’t overlook the fresh fruit drinks for only $2. They’re only open for lunch so check their hours.
Spectacular food, spectacular service, great prices and really fast. Know that it is cash only though.
