Not bariatric friendly. My husband had weight loss surgery and can only eat small amounts. When we go out, he usually gets a kids meal and has never had a problem. Joe’s refused to let him order a kids meal. The cashier, Florencia, was rude and smirky, so I asked to talk to the manager. Bill came out and said the owners are very strict about the 12 and under rule because it’s a money loser (it’s only $2 less than a normal meal. And I don’t think they’re losing money; the place is always busy and two potatoes, sides, and drinks was $28). He suggested we order a meal and take half of it home. We really liked Joe’s, so this is especially unfortunate since we won’t be back.
This a great place great hot links
Good BBQ. Enjoyed our visit to Joe’s. Entering the restaurant we were greeted by a man we presumed was Joe. He helped us through the ordering process and was very friendly. You pick what you want from the menu board and order cafeteria style pay and sit and eat. I got the samler platter that had four ribs, brisket, pulled pork and chicken. They use pecan here so the smoke profile is not as predominant as some. Good smoke ring to the ribs but I found them a little sweet and a little over done since I like a little chew to my ribs. The beans were on the sweet side also. Nothing wrong with that just not my personal preference. The brisket was tasty and the chicken revealed the smoke very well. The cheesy potatoes and mac and cheese here are a must along with the pecan brownie for dessert. Would definitely be back when we are in town to get more off the menu. I had a taste of my wife’s sausage and it was very good. A nice touch is the garlic toast. You can get no sauce and choose from sauces available after you pay or get them to sauce as they do not drown your plate.
Had catered food. This place was just so – so. A lot could be done to make this better. But it does not seem as though it will ever happen. The brisket was ok, but everything tasted the same. They put BBQ sauce in everything it seems.
Great meat but that’s about it. My favorite thing to do is to order bulk meat to take home to eat on for several days (like it lasts that long). I really love the smoked turkey and pulled pork if the puller has done a good job of removing the fat a gristle from the meat before ripping it up and adding the BBQ sauce. The ribs are delicious too if you like ribs. The brisket tends to have too much fat for me and the sausage just doesn’t have the flavor I like but it is flavorful. Don’t even bother tasting the jalapeno bread. It’s not worth having to burn those calories. I wish they went back to serving their cornbread. It was fantastic. As for the sides, skip them except for the baked beans with chunks of meat and the cheesy potatoes, the rest are less than blah. All the desserts are really good and so is the homemade root beer. I have not tried the stuffed potatoes but I may some day because I will keep going back for that meat. I just wish they had better sides.
Bbq meat great but sides are very blah except beens they had a lot of flavor . Awful mac n cheese, and cole slaw even salt n pepper didnt work. Bbq sauce outstanding
To sum it up… Meh… Nothing special. Everything needs more smokey flavor… Worse potato salad we ever tasted! Yuck! What’s up Joe?
