Goodyear finally gets a decent sushi place….. How convenient that we finally have a good sushi place so close to our house! I’m so glad we don’t have to drive into Phoenix or Scottsdale anymore!! The service is good too as well as the price.

A Jewel for the West Valley. My wife and I often find ourselves at Canyon Trails mall on Cotton Lane while carrying out our weekly chores. While my wife was pregnant we would pass this restaurant, never stopping because of the sushi/pregnancy thing. But, we promised that we would try it once the baby had arrived. Our son is now 9 months old and we are regular customers at Ah Hai.The customer service is beyond good. In fact the owners have made such a good impression to my wife that she will always be a patron of this establishment. This is why: As a new Mom my wife was thrown into the unfamiliar world of juggling baby and life. One of the things that she noticed very quickly was that not many restaurants provide changing tables… an observation that she shared with restaurant managers across the valley. She made the same observation to the owners at Ah Hai. The next time we were there we were gobsmacked to find that they had acted on her suggestion and changing facilities were now available! Now that is how to listen to customer feedback! The wait staff are always very friendly and now greet us as if we were old friends. They make a fuss of our baby and stop at the table to make sure he is being entertained while checking to make sure our needs are being met.The food is delicious. A large menu (plus an equally large happy hour menu) leaves the diner with some very tough choices. No matter what we have opted for we have been very pleased with the food we have been served. It is fresh, well presented, and delicious. One of my favorite parts of a meal here is a simple chilled orange that is served at the end of the meal. It cleanses the palate beautifully and is so refreshing. Simple touches like that are what makes this restaurant special. This is our regular spot now for an early evening dinner, before we hit the supermarket. It has become a tradition and one that I intend to keep for quite a while.

Awesome happy hour!. Incredible happy hour, even during the weekends from 3-close! Love the Philly rolls because they use smoked salmon. 5 big rolls, an appetizer and soft drinks for about $30.00 – $40.00. Great service, great value. Will be back there again soon.

Meh. Tomo, please.. Ah-Hai had kind of a buzz going on about it online, so we (significant other and myself) decided to stop in. The prices were fairly good, but one thing was lacking–ambiance. It’s very brightly lit around the small sushi bar and the place just feels like a take-out joint, not somewhere to soak in the atmosphere–eat and leave, please. We arrived at 8:45 (10:30 was the posted closing time) and both ordered sake bombs. Food came rather quickly and around 9:15 we were done and still conversing with our beer. Sushi was good–nothing to write home about; a lot of sauce and nice plating in my opinion. (We got two rolls–thunder and rainbow and beef negimaki as an app). The waitress quickly took the plates and our 22 oz. beer bottles–mine was empty [ha!] but his was almost half-full (let it be known I’m only an optimist when alcohol is concerned). We had glasses to pour the beer in, but he still had a pretty drinkable amount left in the bottle which he hadn’t poured into his glass yet (very nice of the waitress to decide that we were done with our drinks without asking), so we ordered two more.. This time we didn’t get any glasses even though I ordered a different beer. We spoke and laughed about things with super-attentive people roaming around behind us like they do at a Chinese buffet. We left before 10:00, the last people to leave (about 5 minutes after another party). We spent about fifty bucks and honestly for that price, we will happily go back to Tomo which is actually Japanese, has incredible sushi (not just a soulless imitation), a kickass bar and is adult-oriented. Also it’s much closer to us— in all senses of the word.

AMAZING!!! Perfect food, perfect service, perfect atmosphere. Restaurant is very clean. Staff is very tentative. And all their rolls were quite tasty.

Fabulous. Tried 3 different sushi restaurants in the Phoenix area and this was the BEST! Excellent sushi, sashimi and service. Highly recommend it.
