A new/old Blue Bar II. If you are someone who started patronizing the Blue Bar 15 to 20 years ago remember Sarah and Mac Leath. It was a pretty popular place then and the restaurant in the back half of the building had Sarah’s good cooking. Steaks, burgers, and the usual River fare types of food was all the best around back then. Sarah and Mac eventually sold the business and it operated with the Blue Bar II name under a few different owners I believe but my memory is not totally reliable so don’t throw me under the bus if I’m wrong about that.I do know that the last owners of the bar (known as River Ratz) went out of business some time this summer (2011). I’ve lived in the neghborhood a long time and I thought it was not all that friendly of a bar compared to the way I remember it being for a lot of years. The food although affordable was mediocre at best. Well GOOD NEWS, Sarah is back and that means Blue Bar II is back. The exterior sports a new stucco facelift and nice new Blue Bar II sign. It’s never looked better or cleaner outside. I haven’t been inside yet but I will bet my hat it’s the friendly local bar it used to be and I’m going there today to have breakfast. I’m sure it will be a great meal. I will update this review afterward as to the meal and any interior improvements . I would be happy if they just opened back up without the sprucing up and I bet there’s a lot of locals here who agree with me. I hate to tell you this Sarah, but don’t be surprised if your customers try to keep you from selling or retiring for the forseeable future. YOU BELONG HERE RUNNING THIS PLACE!!! It’s a River thing and that’s the way it is!!
