AMAZING. Food is great. Service is fast. Very nice hostess and especially nice waiter. The owner is very attentive and the place is cute and cozy!
Not the best and not the worst. If you are used to CA. or East Coast Chinese you will be disappointed. In this immediate area it’s about the best you can find. The portions are large and you get fried noodles and hot tea. We ordered two spicy dishes and only the one was spicy. We also ordered one beef dish and one chicken dish. The chicken was dry (they only use white meat here) and the beef was prepared better and was tender but we weren’t crazy for the sweet and smokey sauce. They do some different dishes so they are a little more interesting than some of the other very near by Chinese Restaurants. Slight update 4-2-17They now give you the fried noodles only when you order soup. Food is still the same. Not spicy, lacks garlic, too much soy taste and too sweet.
Disappointment at it’s finest.. I have loved the food at Abacus in for years… about 8 of them. Unfortunately, the unbelievably rude service from waitresses and hostesses will keep me from returning. The managers is okay, but seems clueless of the actions of his staff. On my last trip the waitress made me and my sister feel so unwelcome that we had some soup and took the rest to go. The quality of the product has declined over the years, the chicken has become less protein and more batter. They are also completely unwilling to substitute anything for their sad excuse for white rice, even though I offer whatever money they want to do so. Such a waste of a great little spot for what used to be great Chinese.
We have been to this place a few times and have never been disappointed with the food or the service. The spicy orange chicken is great and the hot and sour soup is the best I have ever eaten. The egg rolls are the big fat kind like I remember eating as a kid. On a side note but with mentioning… I don’t know what they do to the table water or how they filter it, but it is really amazing. Go there for a terrific meal at a great price.
Good Neighborhood Restaurant. Nice small neighborhood restaurant. The decor is interesting, the Chinese objects on display were chosen with care. Contrary to other recent reviews, we were seated promptly and treated with respect. The wait help was friendly and the service was timely.I particularly liked their BEEF WITH BROCCOLI the beef was tender and the broccoli crisp cooked to perfection. It was the gravy I liked. Different than most, it was richer. We will definitely be back.
Insulted. We go to Abacus Inn at least 2/month and try to give our business to local enterprises. However, on Sunday, Jan.2 we were treated so rudely by the girl at the front desk I doubt we will ever go there again. We asked for a booth, she sat us at one near the door – it was very cold and drafty. So we asked our waiter if we could move to a booth in the back that had just opened up. He said YES. Then the girl from the front came back and made us move to a tiny table near the front desk and told us that that table was promised to people who came in 20minutes after we did. We left before ordering and doubt that we will go back. Too bad since we like their food and their prices and that they are a local business!!! We will spread the word!
AWFUL!!!!. I have ordered here about 7 times for delivery and I used to eat here everyday for lunch. OK food, but usually great service. I live at 59th just south of Greenway. which is less than 3 miles away. Today, I was ready to pay over $50 for my family’s meal (yes they are a BIT on the expensive side) but now they are saying they have never delivered to me. They said they deliver to 35th and Tbird, they are at 59th and the 101. I don’t know if there was a language barrier, but I will NEVER go there again after the way I was spoken to. The girl that was on the phone first was very nice. The gentlemen that got on the phone to say they are refusing delivery decided he needed to curse at me, call me stupid and speak in syllabals… they have lost a very fond customer!
