Great restaurant! However, if you bring kids remember to shield them from the initial set of flames!

Teriyaki chicken and shrimp seems to be my first choice for sustenance every time I go to a Japanese restaurant. A restaurant my parents introduced me to several years ago by the name of Ah-So has an excellent version of this time honored classic. Ah-So located on 59thAvenue and Bell road write behind the black bear dinner. Ah-So practices Teppanyaki, a method of cooking that evolves the uses of an iron grill in plain view of the customers. This establishment maintains a unique design to provide a tranquil atmosphere for the pleasure of there customers. The Teriyaki chicken and shrimp meal consists of a bowl of fried rice and a bowl of soup to which you have the option of miso or some sort of fish broth. It also comes with a mixture of vegetables: cucumber, bean sprouts, onions, carets and accompanied by a bit of mushrooms. Two sauces are dispersed to everyone that sits at a Teppanyaki table regardless of there meal choice. One of these sauces has the consistency of nacho cheese and an orange, pink tint. It tastes a bit tangy however it is a perfect complement for the shrimp. The other sauce has a slightly thinner viscosity and a dark brown color. One of the waiters had told me it was primarily used for the chicken and stake. The chicken is fried with a chunk of butter that is generally skillfully snatched from a large mound that resides on a cart. A freshly squeezed lemon is added, quickly followed by a dousing of teriyaki sauce. The chicken is finished off by a sprinkling of sesame seeds. The shrimp is also fried with butter and a bit of lemon. A relatively simple procedure but as I said before the addition of the house sauce is the perfect compliment. From start to finish the show is dazzling. The chef has a series of well rehearsed moves and tricks all beginning with a mine volcano made from the onion that is later cut up and added to the vegetable mixture. The grand spectacle does not come cheep though. Teriyaki chicken and shrimp is going to run you about $25.00 buts its well worth the price. Since there is no lag time between the cooking of the food and when it gets to your table it is about as fresh as it can possibly be. The waitresses don’t skimp on there duties either, your glass shall never go empty.I would most certainly recommend that any person that has not experienced dinner and a show from a Teppanyaki table make there first attempt at Ah-So. Good food and spectacular service.

Rated a 6. First time eating at this restaurant and I ordered the steak and chicken, soup was chicken broth based with raw mushroom, salad had a great ginger dressing on it, rice was flavorful vegatables were great just the right amount of seasoning. I was a little dissapointed that the chicken had teriyaki sauce on it when the menu did not say that and they servered two dipping sauce one for chicken and the other for shrimp. The menu read steak and chicken maybe I should have asked , but I had a hard time understanding the chef. Great service. I would have liked the table to be cleaner it seemed a little greasy. They need new silverware they were very used. Over all I would rate this place a 6. A lot of children were in the restaurant for a Saturday night and strollers blocked your way to the tables.

This is my favorite Ah So, I have eaten at the Peoria and Goodyear ones, and this one is still my favorite. Great sushi and excellent service.

Fantastic Lunch Specials. No longer under the same ownership as the other Ah-So restaurants in the valley. Fantastic lunch specials. The food is great, as always, and the service was top notch. Of all the valley Ah-So’s, this was the original and was always my favorite. Now under new ownership, it remains my first choice for not only Sushi, but for Teppanyaki.
