Instant Mashed Potatoes & Frozen or Canned Corn. My husband and I are long time diners of Cholla. When we’ve had a bad day it’s where we go to regroup, enjoy a quiet (yes although it’s a casino) wonderful food and service. Recently we returned to the restaurant and the decore has been updated, I’m not a fan because I liked the fact (like Vegas) it seemed seperate from the casino. We ordered our usual steaks and sides that is pure classic steakhouse comfort food. I took one taste of the mashed potatoes and I could tell instantly, punn intended, instant mashed potatoes mixed with real potatoes. We tasted the extra side, which costs more, of the corn dish and the corn is either frozen or canned. Not sure what happened but the food has taken a nosedive. I hope they read this and go back to making everything from scratch and the good is the quality it was at one point. What they save in time they lose in taste and long time diners. Steak was good, cut of meat was not what it used to be, and the service as always was terrific although the kitchen was killing our server. Felt bad for the guy.
Last minute decision and not being gamblers decided to try our Easter dinner here with family…lovely setting, quiet retreat from casino…great staff and service. Had the NY 10oz w lobster sauce-very good (choose from 10 sides/try garlic parmesan mashed and asparagus-included;other dishes were salmon-huge portion and very fresh and tasty, lamb chops with hazelnut crust extremely good. Also try the homemade breads and citrus seafood soup and caprese salad. All requests met and meats cooked to perfection, great, delicious meal…no room for dessert…and a cute touch was the leather bound menu lights up when opened! Perfect for their softly lit backdrop and partial view of chef team at work…this place makes you feel special and welcome. We will return.
Hir or Miss Menu. Needs to get with the times. Let’s get a little more modern with the surf and turf menu. Take a cue from the much much better Orange Sky at Talking Stick. Filet Mignon was the only standout. Calamari was what would be expected of your local dive bar, cruddy breading with tartar sauce. How ’bout some regional aoli that works? New york steak was freezer burnt/ water logged. Ceasar Salad was acceptable. Service was quite good. Reasonably priced wine list. Seems as if this place has been neglected since Orange Sky opened or the Kitchen was very off.
Service was great!!!. I like Cholla. It is very cozy place. The food was yummy, the staff were very polite and knowledgable. The only downside was how close I was to my table neighbor. The bartender made a yummy Strawberry Lemonade Martini which was to die for. I also enjoyed the Cheesecake which was made with real goat cheese…very rich. I will go back on a special occassion.

Highly Recommended. My husband and I have enjoyed Cholla for years. The service is exceptional, not to mention that the menu changes seasonally. The food is always perfect. The head chef and menu creator stops by personally to check in. We enjoy the intimate setting and personal service. Also, if you are interested in seeing their vegas style show, Cholla will secure you a table and tickets. Cholla is a well hidden treat.
