Cory Visits Mixteca. Today I met some friends for lunch at Mixteca. If you have never been here it is located at Bell Road and 67th Ave. They have all the Mexican food options one could dream of, from Tacos to Enchiladas.Every order comes with unlimited chips and salsa. I must admit that the salsa is nothing short of Heavenly. Each one, from mild to OMG HOT are delicious and go perfectly on the fresh chips.I have been to this place several times before but today was quite spectacular. Each time I’ve been I have had great food and service. Today I went outside my comfort zone and ordered something new. I ordered the Chili Relleno. I was blown away! I have found a new regular.The prices are extremely reasonable and the service is very good. I will most defiantly be back soon and plan on getting my new regular.Until Next TimeCory Rice
Mexyucka. Like most new places, they always try and put their best foot forward, and with restaurants this means quality ingredients and healthy portions. Mixteca did this and did it well for the first year. My last visit there was lackluster at best. I had the fish taco combo plate, it had to be the worst fish tacos I have ever chocked down, What fish was in the taco was over fried, salty and as tough as shoe leather, but at least it was cleverly hidden under a mountain of terrible cole slaw, runny and once again salty. Please save your money and head just a half a mile east to Caramba.
OK, not fantastic. There are a lot of taquerias in the area, ranging from the various ‘Bertos to Carambas. Mixteca is a bit nicer than all of them on the inside (remids me of Two Pesos or Taco Cabana) but the food is average. Not bad, but not memorable. If it’s close to you, then it’s a good choice but many of the other taco shops in the area do just as good a job, even if they look less spectacular.
