Personally I like this place. I usually get Carmel chicken and they have dumbed down the slaw which I’m not crazy about but that’s my only real complaint. The food is fresh, hot, nothing overly breaded and not too expensive. I’ve tried several things on the menu and liked them all. Also, there is ALWAYS a line so not sure how can it be as bad as some other reviewers think but to each his own.
Never Again. I know Pei Wei isn’t the best food but honestly I don’t remember it being that bad. Sadly I tried the Ginger and Broccoli with Chicken. It didn’t look bad but it tasted horrible. The sauce tasted like salty soy sauce mixed with something sweet that you might pour over pancakes. I didn’t taste ginger at all. The broccoli in my dish tasted stinky. I also had a hard time finding clean silverware in the silverware bin.
My husband and I had the Pei Wei Spicy Chicken, his was spicy and mine was mild. His was with rice and mine with the lo mein noodles. It was a lemony syrup on top of chicken, carrots, split peas and soggy noodles. His was just strong of vinegar. We were hungry when we went in there, but it was so dreadful that we just left. Not to mention, its a service-free restaurant with self-service drinks, silverware, and to-go boxes. Such a waste of time and money. Will never go back.
Bad Service Again. I have been shorted the lettuce on 2 different occasions when I got lettuce wraps on take out orders. The orders were too large to go through completely before I left the restaurant on one occasion & my son picked up the order another time & didn’t know to check it. The staff chit chatted & did not pay attention. The manager blew me off both times. Poor service, bad management, irresponsible kids running the place & nobody cared. Those were only 2 of several problems. I won’t go back.
There’s a manager here that looks like some kind of stoner, surfer dude. He’s given me such bad service, more than once, that I only come back once a year to check if he’s still here. I like the place and look forward to frequenting it again as soon as he’s finally gone.
We have tried our local branch of this popular chain on several occasions. The theme has been of disappointment. Although the price is right, the food is not. Several times, all entrees tasted like sweet and sour even tho they included mongolian beef and other hot orders. Our FINAL attempt tonight involved the korean chicken. Nothing korean about it. The taste was flat and not with any heat. I can see why this might be a great go-to with young kids so it serves its purpose, but not for those with a palate for real asian cuisine. I’m not sure if this is just a problem with our local branch because I have had tastes from other locations that did not seem so plagued by mediocrity. Just not sure how far its worth exploring.
Not sure why there is only one dollar sign; food is OK, but cost is higher than you would expect for what you get.
