Not happy. Popo’s is our usual place for Mexican food. Tonight we had a partyof 9. My daugter had a few bites of her fajita taco salad when she noticed what looked like a cricket leg on her avacado. She called the waiter over..he took the salad then came back a few minutes later with the sames salad and said the cook said it was oregano. It looked like a cricket leg. Even if it wasn’t he should have brought her a new salad. Needless to say she didn’t have another bite. No apology. No manager. Just you are wrong…here is your salad back!
User reviews. Everyone I know loves this place. Great food. Have we had a couple so-so servers? Yeah. But not terrible, just on slow side and they didnt last long. This is our go-to Mexican restaurant.
Delicious Chimi. We don’t get good or even mediocre Mexican food in Albuquerque so when we visit Phoenix, we are ravenous in craving tasty, delicious Mexican food. Popo’s satisfied that craving without being bland and without burning our tastebuds off either. Got the beef Chimichanga dinner, and boy was it good. Added the Jalapeno cream cheese to the top and devoured the whole thing. First time visiting, will not be the last!
Not impressed. Outside filthy, butts, litter. Inside dirty as well. Service was slow. Carne taco dried out. Fish taco same and cold. No repeat business from our family.
BAD TO WORSE. Service was horrible. Food was way to salty and tasted horrible. Went there for husbands birthday and I felt so bad for him. Waiter would just walk by and wouldn’t help several times. They forgot our appetizer so they brought it with main dish. I could just go on and on. HORRIBLE. won’t ever be back.
Just OK…. Friends of ours wanted to go out to dinner here so we tried it out last night. It is a popular place that is for sure. Even at 530 there was a short wait that just go longer as the night went on. The service was very good but the food was just ok IMO. My wife had a carne asade chimi which was very greasy inside and didn’t have the best flavor. I tried the carne asada dinner which was better. The carne had good flavor on mine but the rice was greasey. All in all it was good but not some place I will be running back to. I will try it again just to give it fair shot but there are other places I will probably return to first.
We loved this restaurant. It was our first visit, and the owner seated us. The chips and salsa were excellent. When our waiter was a couple of minutes slow in taking our order, the owner brought us a free cheese crisp. We ordered the mini sampler platter and everything was delicious. I appreciated the extra large beverage glasses and reasonable prices. We can’t wait to go back.
