Great Sushi. Great food and service. Had the Mari-roll-lyn sushi plate and the Las Vegas, both tasted fresh and unique. Miso soup was good with lots of Tofu and mushrooms. Definitely would come back.
Miso actually had pieces of mushroom and tofu! Not just salt water! It was full of green onions and delicious! Heart attack-spicy jalopeno poppers were pretty good! Orgasm- fish was melt in your mouth amazing! Beauty- was a little bland. Aloha- flavor explosion!! The most amazing sushi I have ever had!! We will return again!! Wonderful sushi at great prices!!
Impressive, highly recommend. Stay away from spicy tuna though. It tastes like it comes from a can. The scorpion roll was damn good.
Not sure why so many people like this place…. I’ve been here three times…each time, it was progressively worse. I’ve had sushi up and down the California coast and all around Phoenix/Glendale (Ah-So, Yen, Sakana, Kabuki, Ra, Stingray, etc.). Sure, maybe their rolls are cheap and only around $6-10 each, but there is nothing special or even GOOD about this place. Their fish definitely isn’t the freshest, nor is it the best tasting. It always tastes fishy to me. Plus, good luck getting to taste anything but a thick tempura batter whenever you eat a deep-fried roll.Their happy hour isn’t that great, either. Sure, they have some more variety than most places, but the quality is so lacking that it’s ridiculous. The last time I went, we ordered 4 rolls…we ate maybe half of it and left the rest. The Las Vegas roll tasted like cinnamon…as if they didn’t clean the deep frier and someone had just made a tempura batter for ice cream or a churro in it. The shrimp tempura with spicy tuna on top was nothing impressive…the shrimp tempura was basic, the spicy tuna was not high quality stuff. Plus, they use crab mix in everything, not real crab. If I wanted crab mix, I’d go to Safeway or Fry’s and buy the pre-packaged stuff (which I guess they do anyway).Did they even ask if everything was OK? No. They just realized we were done eating and asked if we wanted our check. The food quality was horrible and their attempt to deep fry everything is all that I can believe why people like this place. Maybe there’s something I’m missing…all I know is that there are FAR BETTER places to go for sushi and FAR BETTER happy hour deals than what they’re offering. I’ll stick to Ah-So 4 blocks away, or even the chain Ah-So on 75th and Paradise or Yen on 43rd and Bell before heading here ever again. The service wasn’t horrible, but it didn’t appear to be a natural sushi chef behind the bar…more like a cook filling in for the day, so maybe that’s why it was so bad (seeing as it was the third time it’s been pretty bad, I can’t see this as being the case).
This is my new go-to sushi restaurant. I love it! The food is amazing, the sake rocks and the prices are very affordable. I expected it to be pricey for the quality of the food, but it’s proof that a combo of fresh food and good service is still affordable these days. It’s a small and hopping location. Easy to find and even easier to remember. I will definitely be visiting again!
Great weekday lunch specials satisfy my sushi cravings for less!
Fast, Fun – Food.. This is one of my favorites in the valley. I’ve been there twice now and I find the service fast, fish very fresh and the people at the sushi bar really enjoy what they do. I don’t do deep fried rolls and whatnot, but typically only sashimi and nigiri – Their staples are great and they have decent salads and the MISO is really quite nice (it doesn’t taste like it came from a package) – You could do a lot worse in the valley.
