Zad Al Khair is a newly opened Iraqi Middle Eastern Restaurant. They offer a large patio, a large spacious dining room, lunch, dinner, entertainment and hookah. We started with an appetizer of hummus with meat. The appetizer wasn’t good at all and I had fears about dinner. They gave me beef that was like rubber on top of average hummus and a hard thin crisp pita that reminded me of matzo. They get three stars because the dinners were good. I had the Iraqi Style Chicken Biryani. The chicken in the dish was good and I tasted middle eastern flavors of allspice and cinnamon. They used French Fries in the dish instead of potatoes but that is common in Middle East Street Food. My husband had an Iraqi peasant dish called Tashreeb with beef. It was a very moist falling apart piece of lamb that was over soaked bread with a tomato beef sauce. It was a tasty dish but you needed the sauce to flavor the lamb. Our server offered us Iraqi Tea. It doesn’t taste like any tea I ever had before. It’s a dark tea with a bitterness to it like orange pith. You need to add sugar to it. It’s something different and worth a try.
